Re: Blinky 51/480

Definitely not remove things that do not need to be removed (unless you are looking for work  ) Oh by the way, the instrument cluster has arrived! Someone really made a work of art by twisting wire ends into each other, cutting the wrong circuit traces (it could have been done much, much simple...

Re: Front seatbelt shoulder pad

You will need a 5/8" (yes that is not a metric size though 16 mm will come close) wrench, with which you can undo the bolt that holds the seat belt holder (a fairly large and bent metal bit next to the seat) to the chassis. Now you can remove the seat belt end and slide the shoulder pad around it.

Re: Blinky 51/480

Oh I didn't mean to say that the head should be lifted to adjust valve clearance, by all means, no! Just lift the valve cover (and put a new gasket in afterwards) Many people forget valve clearance adjustment needs to be done every 25,000 miles or 40,000 km and it will seriously increase performance...

Re: Blinky 51/480

All 400 series have the same waterpump, the same as the Renaults with F3-engine have. There was a different design in the earlier models, which has been replaced by a more efficient one. Again, all are compatible. There is no need to replace the head gasket if it's not leaking. But it can definitely...

Re: Original Front Centre Console With Cup Holders

Oh my memory might have been wrong, could be as much as € 75 new but definitely not more. But I think it's ridiculous that people dare to ask up to € 150 for a second hand one. Once my TARDIS is finished I'll go back in time, buy up all stocks of rear lights, DRL's, cruise control sets, rear bumper ...

Re: Original Front Centre Console With Cup Holders

Considering they were about 40 pound new at the dealer, I simply refuse to pay the greatly inflated prices some people dare to ask. Though it is not so bad as the Venetian Blinds...

Re: Seat-belt extending arm

I have bought an 8 mm hex key (to fit a 1/4" socket wrench) just for this purpose :) You need to apply quite a lot of force to get it loose. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161005/7bd3441a4ede17d6c7a5b5f24378b12f.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161005/848b564a051fff1998dea6f3682e3c91.jpg htt...

Re: Blinky 51/480

I would devise some circuitry that switches the light on for a brief moment. Most of the electronics is already there. On the other hand, I'd rather have a working ABS.

Re: Spare dashboard cluster

You're welcome

By the way, 195/55-15 is the default tire size on 15" rims. You can choose 195/50-15 at a pinch but that doesn't look good on cars with standard springs.

Re: dashboard screws?

I think it's a lot cheaper and more reliable if you source the door pockets in the UK. These bits are delicate, something the Yodel couriers can't handle. :badmood: :kill:
The one I have is cracked, not a big crack but an undamaged one will be much nicer.

Re: Spare dashboard cluster

If the donor car has the same engine and is of the same model year, you should be OK. However, your car is a 1.7 Turbo and the donor is a Celebration which has a 2 litre non-turbo engine. There is an easy way to convert the info centre computer from 2.0 to 1.7 Turbo, the other way around is a lot mo...

Re: Blinky the 480

I have a few questions that hopefully you can help me out with. The A/C doesn't seem to have much of a blast from the vents, if you press the buttons the air doesn't change just sort of comes out the floor and screen. Where should I start with this one? on the diagram is appears to be controlled vi...

Re: Are my brakes working properly?

With "ignition turned on" do you mean "engine turned on"? Or just the ignition key switched on? And does the ABS warning light turn on for a brief moment after switching on, or does it remain on all the time? And what happens if you keep pumping the pedal? Anyway, I would go to a mechanic that knows...

Re: Are my brakes working properly?

Oops... Sounds like a bad accumulator, but then again, the ABS warning light will be on if something fails. I have just been investigating a problem with someone's pre-1992 ABS (ABS MkII). Spare parts have become unobtainium of course. I wish someone with knowledge of ATE brake and ABS systems could...
