Re: Volvo 480 book

Just received an email from Eric with more information on the book: Price The book contains about 172 pages in two-colour and full colour, size 28x28cm. with a hard cover. From experience with having the Dutch edition made, the price of the English version will be about 65 euros excluding shipping c...

Re: Volvo 480 book

Eric tells me he will be ordering the print run shortly, but he only has 15 confirmed orders. Another run seems unlikely as there is so little interest, so if anyone wants a copy and hasn't yet ordered you need to get an email off to him pronto !

Y, Al and I racked our brains trying to remember it, and wondering why. We came to the conclusion it must have been your dad.

Re: Any tips for insurance?

I forgot about this but when I took my last 480 to France & Belgium with Sylvia & Al, I added him as a named driver and my premium reduced, even though I am in my 30's! This was quite a surprise but he's been on there ever since! Thanks James, it's nice to know we golden oldies have a use still :lo...

Re: 480 Turbo on fleabay.....

On behalf of the rescue group, Jeff and I decided that turbos with rusty wheel arches and/or other major problems (clutch in this case) are best left for the Renault vultures. We will strike when a better one comes up, but meanwhile this will be one less scumbag bidding against us. The policy will p...

Re: what's your favourite in car music?

I'm a long-time Led Zep fan. Saw them live at Knebworth - The Song Remains the Same. Still got the T shirt! Not really music for the car though. My driving preference is for much more soothing sounds like Bo Hansson Van Gelis and anything by Enya - very haunting. Also like Queen, Robert Plant and so...

Re: Low Mileage (??) Shed on eBay

My L reg ES had the speedo fail just after I bought it in 2001. It was changed for a new one by a Volvo dealer and much to my surprise came home with zero miles on the clock. Quite amazing considering how hot the law was on unscrupulous dealers 'clocking' cars. I have to think this one had a similar...

Deeply indebted to Jeff for all the hours he has put into it along with parts from his own stash. Thanks also go to members who have kindly supplied other much needed pieces of unobtan...

Re: Rear Side Marker Light Gaskets 3416021 & 3416022

The post on the French club relates to a Dutch company called Onderdelen I would steer well clear of. They sold me a pair of new badges which turned out to not only be mismatched but also both badly scuffed. No reply to any of my complaints. Best to stick to Joep.

I've never owned anything with perfect paint like a new car. It is going to be nerve wracking leaving it anywhere now.
You wait til you start driving it and worrying about stone chips ! I was a nervous wreck in Snazzy when I first got her back !!

Re: Very Very clean one on C&C, 21k miles

I've checked and it's definitely registered as a 1.7 ES S/R (yes, I had to go back to the photos and squint to check the moon roof was there as well) Interestingly, the general 1990 480 brochure shows an ES with black bumpers and a turbo with colour-coded ones. The only cloth seats shown in the broc...

Re: Very Very clean one on C&C, 21k miles

Confusing that it has the early black bumpers with the later seats - it dates from 1990 so that puts it in the changeover period. James is right about the engine size though, it's a 1.7. But why has it got the wrong badge ??
