Re: Radios - Troubleshooting and Repair
I am a sucker for vintage audio - the only issue is that I have no idea how to go about maintaining stuff, so I just have to hope that I know people who can fix them, and that parts are available for my units. While I will probably refrain from prying open my rare Decks for now, I will definitely be...

Re: William's 1993 480ES Two-Tone
It does you well to reflect on what's been achieved, and you've achieved a lot - More than some people achieve in years! Was chatting the other day with the "other" Will about how we should drive other peoples 480's. I think it'd be therapeutic on many levels: You'd realise even the best 480's stil...

Re: Paris the Unicorn joins the club !
The French meet does look epic, being a French speaker (after some acclimatisation) I have always wanted to go. How did you find getting about without the dreaded UK sticker on the back? Not much trouble? I refuse to put one on, and I have a lot of reproduction late 80s/early 90s Seacat Hovercraft o...

Re: William's 1993 480ES Two-Tone
Many Congratulations Will! I did wonder if someone would be mad enough to follow me in having a wedge as their first car in the late 2010s, although you were much more sensible with the 2.0 engine (not that the 1.7 B18E is bad by any means  ). It has been really great getting to know you and ...

Arctic does look a slightly lighter shade than Petrol. I'm sure they would've looked a lot different on a brightly lit ...

Re: Rescue Car: R3
218 is Arctic Blue, 219 is Petrol Blue. Assuming it's not tipping it down like it is here a quick pop of the bonnet will tell us for certain. 219-5 if I remember correctly And Jeff wins the "Mr Memory" (or "Sad Nerd", depending on your perspective ;) ) prize - Felicity is indeed 219-5, so Petrol bl...

Re: Rescue Car: R3
He never intended to make money from selling parts, rather they would have been made available to this community as needed free of charge. Hmm Fantastic work David, I thought R3 was going to be a gonner for a second! She’s a very nice example of an early car. Looks almost identical to Ben’s 480 as ...

Re: Rescue Car: R3
What the ACTUAL Fuck? Was not expecting to wake up to this news. R3 was an example of one of the rarest (and my favourite) colours and to hear that he has done this is appalling. Is there anything we can do? Oscar Wilde once said that true friends stab you from the front. I think it is clear what we...

Re: I want to upgrade my sound system - What are my options?
Oooh I love old radios. I do have a Philips DC751 that I could let go of. It was serviced before I bought it and has done me very good. If you car hasn't had connectors messed with, it should just be a straight swap. However it is a circa 1988 unit, and your car is a 92, so not completely correct, b...

Re: Inside cabin getting hot
In my experience the 480 is like a Sauna on wheels, it gets stiflingly hot inside whatever you do, especially in sunny weather. Now, if you are in doubt about the engine being too hot, I would just put the heater on full blast for a bit to help get rid of excess heat. It may not be pleasant, but it ...

Re: Newby to 480s
Hi and welcome to the club! As others have said, NSF front wings would have to be second hand, they aren't the most difficult part to find for the 480, and I think there is a 1987 car being broken on eBay right now IIRC. Of course, you could always try Scandix, but they are very pricey, if they have...

 That is brilliant well done! I imagine the Wedge would have gotten some looks from the examiners... Now you need to work out insurance, what are your options? As for the meet, I am at uni then so will be unable to attend, as everything kinda starts from the 1st October :cryhard: Thanks Ben! ...

Re: Mobile Meet Hampshire to Northants October 1st
I might actually be able to attend this one! Passed my practical driving test this morning (first time!) and Andover is around an hour or so drive from where I live. Northants is quite a way away, so I might not be able to go all the way till the end, but it sounds fun! Look forward to seeing every...

O.M.F.G. That is an incredible job JK, I am in shock  It really makes me want to get the Wing Top Seal on my car sorted, currently it is poking out of the front nose cone, I thought it was because the paintshop messed it up, but it was actually the wing itself needs straightening, but we will s...

Any chance of a clutch cable being available?
Hi all, Hope you are all well :) I haven't really been using the Volvo since it passed it's MOT, a combination of a rash of electrical gremlins, tracking still needing doing and a reluctance to expose it to the world has meant the car is currently on Ice. However, perhaps the biggest reason for it t...

Re: How to fit a kill switch?
Something I learned from my mate today with MX5s, he reckons its a good idea to take the fuel injection fuse out of the fuse box and take it with him, and then pop it back in when using. Sounds good, don't know how it would work with a Wedge mind...
