It has done the rounds before, for reasons already explained, it will probably never sell

Re: 1987 480 ES Project -- D-reg, 2nd oldest in UK
Wow James that really does look stunning, you have done an incredible job with that! Still personally not sold on the coloured bumpers, seems to be overbalanced a bit in my sight, but that has to be one of, if not the best around now :hopping: Really well done, I wonder if we will have another launc...

I always liked Cardin designs, could only be from the 80s

Re: Is this Petrol Blue?
I also disagree! The Atlas has the spokes slightly proud, unlike the Pollux. The J-reg car has Atlas on it I’d say. Yes that I would agree, but with the movie car it has the chunkier profile of the Pollux + the rim notch: https://i.postimg.cc/JzJDN2tr/Capture.png https://i.postimg.cc/fLvgJCY5/IMG-5...

Re: Is this Petrol Blue?
Those are the later similarly styled Atlas wheels which are standard at this age. I am afraid I must diasagree here, the difference in the picture is subtle, but if you look closely you can see they have the thicker, chamfered profile of the pollux, as opposed to the thinner, smoother cut Atlas Pol...

Re: Is this Petrol Blue?
I'm with Edie on this - the car in the picture in your first post, Ben, has 1991 onwards door mirrors. Given the black bumpers I'd say it is a Paris Blue 480S. David Yes it would seem that way, the Pollux alloys are a bit odd to see that far late, but would seem to be from the age of confusion as I...

Re: Is this Petrol Blue?
Well, the drivers door and front wing look like Paris Blue but the rear quarter and the bonnet look more like Petrol Blue to me. I think it has been sprayed at some point, looks like mine did when it came out of the barn: https://cdn.globalauctionplatform.com/18d4ba55-562d-47b0-a1ca-a94b015be988/ef...

Re: Is this Petrol Blue?
I'd say definitely Paris blue. This was my first 480. Registered 9 Oct 1991. Facelift but not far in. That image also looks to have the smaller 'post' wing mirrors. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3dXIc5u5DTIJle-xYsOH5fWEjdmTd0eDme9mKqJ0Y218RkpKpWAz7bOswx-xbZxMxu399-01Aw8OtoVEowY_hckwEqaD...

There is a new entry on IMCDB for a pre facelift early car, colour looks like Paris Blue, but I am wondering if it is the elusive Petrol Blue of which James' old one and R3 are the only examples I have seen

Re: 1994 480 S on eBay
I am sorry to see this Ben, I know we all root for you, it seems though that this case was a bad one. In regards to what it is actually worth, my car started out as a Starter (but non runner) with straight bodywork but with small jobs needing doing, having been in a barn for 10+ years. I bought that...

Re: reet
So, what did other people learn in ? I bet Ben was the only one of us in a 480.... It certainly seems that way, although as part of the traditional "my dad had one of those" lines, our neighbour said he learned in his dads one in the late 80s, from what he says it was Graphite Grey. That Reminds me...

I do think they could have picked a better spot rather than a wall to just dump it in front of... almost crashed into? I'd agree it is more old skool GT than VW GTi Almost like a reinvention of the Capri but with a 1980s twist, and scene tax Instead of Scene Tax, we have scene oligopoly: all the 48...

Re: "Volvo 480 Bows Out With Dignity", Autocar magazine 19th July 1995
I'd largely agree with you, Jay. I do think it's important to remember thought that what Volvo had I mind all along was a sports tourer - what used to be categorised as a "GT" - the 480 was never intended as an out and out sports car. Just like the P1800 before it. David And that is where I get the...
