Re: brakes loosing pressure.

Hi Alan. The issue was a leak in the master cylinder and also on the accumulator. Anyway it's replaced. Had a little trouble bleeding the rear brakes though. This one works . Only doubt that I have is that after some brake pedal applications the relay clicks. But I'm 90% sure that's supposed to be t...

Re: brakes loosing pressure.

Finally got a replacement pump from a scrapyard. Looks good. So.... risking looking like a fool: has anywone replaced an ABS pump in these cars? can anyone give me any general steps and tell how hard it is. I have a bit of mechanic diy experience (replaced head gasket and similar dificulty jobs) but...

Re: Need to replace rear shocks

Hi rich, Didn't saw your post sooner. I ended up buying some sachs (for now) as my yellows were pretty much shot and becase these were the closest to the original if not the original shocks that came from factory. Anyway, i'm not very happy. I dont know if it's from the shocks but, i fill that now t...

Re: Parts Wanted

Hi!
Yes I believe you can repair the heated windows.
There are repair kits that are like a cooper paint that you can apply with a tiny brush.
Do a search on eBay for "window heather repair"
Cheers.

Re: brakes loosing pressure.

Hi Jim;
I think ATE is the brand.
I have no pic of the pump here but mine is equal to the car in the "car of the month" of the site. Namely the car from March 2004. Here is the link http://www.volvo-480-europe.org/clubdat ... h/0403.php.

Re: oil viscocity

Hi JP; I'm not so sure that the SAE rating of the oil is totally related as to if the oil is synthetic, semi or mineral. For instance, if you look for instance at castrol GTX 15w-40 it says part synthetic the same for 10w-40. mobil10w-40 says also semi-synthetic whereas shell helix hx7 10w40 says sy...

Re: oil viscocity

Been using 15W40 and sometimes 10W40. 10w40 is more liquid when cold but the same viscosity as 15w40 when hot. I keep in the 40 as it's the recomended viscosity. I agree with espada: Always look for quality oil. And don't go for mineral oil. I also do not think that the gauge is whell calibrated. Ho...

I can hear the relay of the pump switching on and then off this half second. If i push the pedal further, the relay turns...

480 history

Hi, For quite some time I've been having doubts about 480's engine roots. I know that at least the engine block came from renault. Is this true for all the engine types? Is it only the block that was used? I also have seen that Porsche tweeked the engine :hopping: . Are there any specifics as to wha...

Need to replace rear shocks

Hi, It's time to replace my rear shocks. I have koni sports (yellow) and although I was told the front ones can be restored, the rear ones cannot, or at least they won't be real konis. Not sure if this is true, so feel free to correct me. Anyway, i'm trying to buy some new ones but its becoming hard...

Re: Cold start idle

Hi there, To anyone who fixed the problem by replacing this valve can someone confirm if the revs gradually rise from cold start until normal operating temperature? Or does the engine jumps to normal? Mine start's at aprox. 200RPM but keeps rising to 850 @80ºc. I also found out that when I was adju...
