Re: Cant decide what to go for. ES or Turbo

ive got a 440 turbo auto, and i can happily say it isnt a major fuel guzzler. the manuals on a motorway can do 45mpg (avg) on the motorway ive got 43mpg(avg) but if you cane the arse out of it (easily done if you have a richmod fitted) the economy goes out the window! HAve managed to get as low as 1...

Re: b18ft non starting

i know this might sound stupid but it's the only thing i can think of. You have got the HT leads attached to the dizzy cap in the correct order? If the engine is getting fuel and you say it has a good spark it should run or atleast try! The rotor arm is in good condition i take it? also the little e...

Re: b18ft non starting

have you got a leak in the exhaust system and the lambda sensor connected? without a lambda the ecu has a hissy fit and sometimes refuses to behave. As for the exhaust, my 440t is in the process of having a new cat back system after the mid pipe and backbox fell apart. while the exhaust was leaking ...

that pipe is part of the charcoal canister evap system, it vents fumes from the canister to the throttle body to help start the engine.

Re: Turbo exhaust on 2 litre?

The turbo down pipe is completly different from the N\A ones, dont forget it mounts to the turbo not the manifold! what you will need to do is remove the 2l downpipe (or even better aquire another) and cut the "cat" end off and weld on the end from a turbo downpipe. or the other but more costly if d...

Re: NOW breaking a 93 2ltr 480

oh, i was under the impression that all 400 series 2.0 engines after 93 where fitted with the aux pump in an attempt to stop overheating, after volvo got rid of the oil injector things (the red / green dipstick malarky). ah well was worth a try, might just have to ask volvo for a new one :cryhard:

Re: Blue Richmod ECU

been a 92 i doubt it will be a blue ecu, will more likely be a purple or red. the ecu is located in the bottom of the centre console, pull back the carpet on the drivers side of the center console (uk models that is) and it's in a black polystyrene holder, look at the colour of the bosh label on it.

Re: How to do a 710N recirc valve upgrade!

Spree i wouldn't even class this as a "modification" in that class, as you are only substituting a poorly made part for a better quality part. i would say it's no different from fitting a genuine volvo air filter or a FRAM air filter from a motor factor. It's just an aftermarket part that doesnt inc...

Re: How to do a 710N recirc valve upgrade!

BBF if you read the how to again you will see that i have specified using 2 recirc valves. One to be used as standard, but also using one to replace the diaphram valve that sits on the ICV that tends to break if you look at it, or the insides fail when your increase the boost. which causes an air le...

Re: Wanted: b18ep cylinder head

Thats a turbo head jim. EDIT: could I use a 2.0 head without any problems? No it won't fit. The B20F head is a completly other design then the B18. The B18 has the Heron type as the B20F the Partagee type. The combustion chamber from the B18 is in the piston, the B20F combustion chamber is partly in...

How to do a 710N recirc valve upgrade!

Right first things first, this is the best upgrade you can do to the turbo engine if you have increased the boost pressure either with an "MBC" or Richmod. You will tend to find that after increasing the boost the standard "dump Valve" and the recirc valve on the end of the ICV (see pic below) just ...

Re: 480 Turbo lowering

Ok ive got a 440T not a 480 but the suspensions the same on them both. Ive lowerd the 440 mainly due to the fact the original suspension was dead and new standard parts cost the same as the lowering parts. I replaced the front struts with KYB Gas struts that are slightly stiffer and replaced the rea...
