Re: Dendy's 480 Diary

Oli turned up a couple of weeks ago complaining that the sound in his car was awful. No surprises there, it's got the standard head unit and the original Volvo paper cones, so we got to work: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/wl4sCH80ztviXeWaOtDMckpT5F8pqpkWBj4q50MoxJgBQFfQGsBE-at2iWUAXZGZInNOHwWQZG...

Re: Window Regulator Cable Detached

Hi David - I managed to get hold of another one that looks identical to the one you've got, haven't got round to fitting it yet as the window is propped shut with a 2x4, and 'temporary' solutions like that always seem to hang around for longer than intended... :D

Re: Price when new?

Something tells me the ugly SRS wheel was mandated and non-deleteable. It was never leather trimmed from memory. It would be interesting to see if the MOMO wheel is available in a 1994 accessories list because according to threads on here, it needs a column change, and I cant see dealers doing that...

Re: Price when new?

All of those things and more were available. The page I photographed is the back of the '94 brochure, which just lists the different standard equipment levels for the different models. There's a separate accessories catalogue - you might be able to find one online, or if it's of particular interest ...

Re: Ebay spot

Agreed. having two jets either side is quite a nice upgrade as well. Semi related, I was driving behind a classic range rover the other day and thought the rear washer jet looked familiar: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Range-Rover-Classic-Washer-Jet/131940058013?hash=item1eb83d839d:g:mgwAAOS...

Fantastic - I was planning on doing a basic how-to for the forum after finishing mine, but more than happy to wait for a proper one from the man himself!

Re: Dendy's 480 Diary

...The windscreen is cracked, unrelated to rusting at least, it cracked when I pushed the mirror back on recently...... But it was all chipped anyway, and there are a couple of bubbles above the screen anyways... There'll be rust under there, I'd put money on it. Guess how I know . Having read...

Re: The story of #89/480 continues...

Sounds similar to my upcoming job - speedo and rev counter are increasingly intermittent and I'm hoping that the culprit will be dry joints somewhere on the board. I haven't done a cog change before, so was basically planning to bodge it. Here are a couple of threads I dug up with some useful inform...

Re: Dendy's 480 Diary

I've finally got round to replacing my windscreen, and it wasn't a quick process. As of a week ago I had cracks starting in the top passenger corner extended pretty much the entire way across the car, so not much driving was taking place. Several of you saw them in their early stages at the recent m...

Re: how to remove the nose cone

I happened to have my nose cone off the other day so I thought I'd take a couple of photos and have a go at resurrecting this guide. Didn't occur to me to document the removal process for the clusters as most of us can probably take them out blindfolded with nothing but a pair of rusty spoons for to...

Re: So, today was the day...

Oli and I have been using those LEDs in our cars for a while, his is a daily driver in London and no objections from the rozzers so far. There is anecdotal evidence (including on this forum) of people being pulled over and having to remove them in the past due to them being too 'blue', but that was ...

My dash will be coming apart for some repairs in the near future, my odometer is working fine for now but I'm planning to replace the gear preemptively since I'll have access to it. Brinkie was able to point me in the direction of a replacement gear for the odometer, link here.

Re: Price when new?

According to the '94 press kit here , a turbo cost £16,495. Not clear what trim level that refers to, though. Edit: Looking at the tables at the end it looks like you need to add your leather interior, steering wheel and aircon as extras, so we need someone with an accessories catalogue and price li...

Re: photobucket options whip around?

We talked about this recently in this thread as well - as Jeff says, we've lost all the old photos for good, but it would still be nice to come up with a solution to prevent it happening again. I'm using Google Images with a workaround to get hotlinking working (as are others), but I wouldn't be sur...

Re: Front Splitter required

I've got a composite one but getting it to fit well is proving difficult. It's much stiffer and thicker understand ably, so doesn't mould to the front bumper as well. Looking at options to mend the original, but again it's not easy. What's the damage? I happen to be quite familiar with Volvo 480 fr...

Re: Saturdays mini meet.....

Those dash cam photos came out quite well, half-tempted to get one myself for next time! I'd like to echo comments above by thanking Sylvia and Al for another brilliant meet - great choice of locations and roads as always, and the live-action enactment of The Wicker Man at the end was an added bonus...

Re: Couple of useful toys...

A battery pack is useful to have. I keep one under the seat in the 480 and it gets used a fair amount, particularly when the 480 doesn't get driven for a while - I'd probably need it less often if I invested in a battery monitor, so perhaps that will be next on the list... I've just downloaded Vehic...
