Re: She Lives!!

Just wanted to bump the post up again, as I've been enjoying the experience of driving the car again for the past month or so - plenty of attention (mostly positive!! ) and generally reliable (had to replace the earth lead and lately there's been an odd intermittent starting problem) so the gr...

Re: 480 ES 1992 1 owner open to offers

Bump! Hello again Neil, do you have any more pics of things such as: 1) Interior (front and rear seats, headlining) 2) Engine bay 3) Corrosion to doors It would be useful for prospective buyers (including me) to see these things, as it helps to gauge the likely extent of the restoration effort. Che...

Re: My second 480...... project 'sleeper'

Hello Ade, What a great idea and a brilliant opportunity to have a go! I used to have a 9000 2.3 full turbo which, even with 160K plus miles on it, went like the proverbial clappers. The thought of that kind of power in such a relatively small bodyshell is mind-blowing in potential. I guess you'd ne...

Re: 480 ES 1992 1 owner open to offers

Hello Neil, Did it pass its MOT, and what colour is the car? Might it be possible to send some photos via text, if I PM you my phone number? I may well be interested, although I am up in the North West of the UK, I may be in London in the next week or so.. I have recently brought my own 480 back to ...

Re: 480 ES 1992 1 owner open to offers

Hello Neil, Sorry to hear about your Dad's passing - it is a hard thing to come to terms with, and made more poignant by having things (such as cars) around that he used and cared for. What a great idea to offer the car on here to a group of enthusiasts - I look forward to seeing the pictures. Have ...

Re: volvo 480es B18F-106 injectors

Well, if I was you I would take up Jim's kind offer first of all.

Next, having had similar problems with my own car, I'd suggest you post a picture of the engine bay here, so that we can do a visual check on the items that sometimes cause this problem.

Can you do that?

Re: She Lives!!

Still waiting for the registration document from the DVLA - it appears that I somehow forgot to complete the paperwork for the V50 logbook when the car arrived last year - probably something to do with my Dad passing away that same week (God rest his soul!) - so all I actually did was declare SORN a...

Re: Should I rebuild a 480?

Definitely go for it - 90K kms is nothing, and as long as the basic chassis and mechanicals are sound, you will find yourself with a distinctive, fun to drive and appreciating classic, rather than a boring a depreciating thud-mobile. Yes, they can be infuriating. Yes they are somewhat different to t...

Re: She Lives!!

Well, she is home! Sitting pretty (ish) on my drive, she arrived back yesterday evening from the garage, having had a helicoil sleeve inserted into the head to enable the temperature sender to be refitted and to stop the coolant leak that was threatening to undo all of the hard work that has taken p...

Haha, these cars are magnificent in the way they get inside your head, your dreams and (sadly) your wallet so effectively  I've loved reading about your story and how you get one thing sorted, only for another annoying problem to start up almost immediately - I'm sure it is a familiar tale to m...

Re: She Lives!!

Ok..deep breaths...Good news, and bad news!!.. The Good News is that she passed her MOT today (initially failed on handbrake, side lights and a couple of other minor problems). Once the problems were sorted, including replacement of handbrake cable, new pads front & rear, headlight adjustment and (f...

Re: North / North West Members?

Hello James, I used to knock about in that neck of the woods (Durham) and my son lives in Ponteland (North of Newcastle). Assuming she passes the MOT tomorrow, I'd be glad of a chance to romp across to Barnard Castle, or even up as far as Gateshead (could drop the missus at the Metro Centre :)) for ...

Hello Swanny, Where are you normally based (somewhere between Norwich and Carlisle from your post - which doesn't narrow things down much ;)) Do let me know if you are venturng North in the 480 tub, and perhaps we could meet at Preston or the Lancaster services for a medicinal coffee ? Cheers! Martin

North / North West Members?

Hello 480 enthusiasts (everywhere), I'm about to get my pride and joy back on the road, here in the North West of the UK, and was wondering when I'll be doing my first 'double-take followed by mad wave and scramble to pop the lights' thing that invariably happens when we come across another 480 :) J...

Re: 218 arctic blue colour match problem

I'm having some problems finding paint code 305 (metallic Black) anywhere. I thought I'd ordered some from Volvopartsonline.com only for them to ring me back and tell me that they don't stock it, even though their system took my order and my money for that exact product! So, I guess it is a trip to ...
