Re: What period aftermarket radio/casette to use?

If - if - you can find someone at Volvo who is interested enough to dig, if it was Eva's original unit they should be able to give you the code against the registration plate, assuming all records haven't been destroyed...

Working, that unit would be ideal for Ben.

Apologies David yes 466
No problem at all Joolz - it was just a bit confusing when I first read your post title and thought "hang on, 467, that's mine - no-one told me..."

Good luck with finding PUS a loving new home.

Best

Re: Snazzy's story

It has to be said, Sylvia - Snazzy looks fantastic in your photos, so by the time all is properly finished you'll be well pleased, and deservedly so :hopping:

Hope we get to see Snazzy "in the metal" sometime soon so we can all be jealous ;)

Re: 740

Bad luck Norm - a wasted trip like that is always such a disappointment.

Still, I am sure the right car will come along soon: there seems to still be a steady trickle of 700 and 900 series cars on the market...

Are you thinking of keeping the 480 in the boot? ;)

Good day's work Jeff, and the sort of photo-guide that should enable even the least experienced and most nervous home-mechanic tackle these standard tasks that a garage will charge an arm-and-a-leg for :D

Re: Info Centre Accuracy

My first 480 was an E-reg 1988 model (so again a B18E) in which nearly everything went wrong at some point or other too... Others will doubtless be able to quote chapter and verse, but the range figure is calculated on the basis of the mpg of the last few miles driving. When, on my 1987 model ...

Re: Celebration 403

I think the toughest crowd are not the folks here, because they already have a 480  The toughest crowd are the potential buyers. And they are not going to pay that much, unless the car is 100% perfect, then it might spark interest from Volvo collectors. Imperfections are already stated: wrong...

Re: Celebration 403

Hi Henry, thanks for the further information. You'll find us a "tough crowd" on here and it's a nice change to have a dealer seek to respond constructively to our comments. Cracked dashboard you are so right about - dont think I've seen one without a crack for many years. Cracked centre console is n...

Re: High co2 emissions 480 2.0

Hello and welcome KCantle - another Celebration :D Look forward to seeing some details and pictures. A previous Celeb of mine had a similar problem and so wouldn't pass an MOT. We tracked the problem down in the end to the green wire that runs from the lambda sensor to the ECU. It is a shielded wire...

Re: May 23rd Virtual Mini Meet

Oh yes - and especially for Jeff while I am catching up - in case anyone wondered yes, Nilani's engine bay cleaned up nicely as well but no, sadly, I don't have a pollen filter for her. Mind you, I haven't resurrected her air con yet so it doesn't matter quite so much as it does for Lily... https://...

Thankfully he didn’t submit an engine bay shot - I will get a pollen filter housing one day..... Thanks Jay - I saw your comment late last night and it brightened my day no end! Lily is...

Re: May 23rd Virtual Mini Meet

So sorry I wasn't able to get back to this yesterday - life got in the way, which is perhaps one of the disadvantages of doing a meet while still at home? Thanks so much to Sylvia for all her work though - as always on these things! I very much look forward to being able to do the next meet in a mor...

Re: May 23rd Virtual Mini Meet

Here’s my project: As Snazzy is both ‘just’ an ES and very high mileage (230k), she is the least valuable of our 480s so she is going ‘non standard’ in some respects. I’d like to copy this idea on the headlights: https://www.dragonflyjewel.co.uk/sylvia/blackout.jpg So, what to use to blackout the h...

Re: Celebration 403

Yes, it looks like quite a nice example but £9K?? I know Jeff and I have slightly differing views on the prices being sought these days - but we're never that far apart! In addition to his points as well as the obvious lack of spoiler, it also has an incorrect boot-lid... When I first looked at this...
