Re: I am considering buying a C30/V40
I have a 1800 C30 57 plate, seems OK and done 80000 miles, still comfy enough, but allow wheels are laquer free and have been since 10000 miles :-( seat is shredded (twice) at 15000 & 30000, I'm only 11 stone so not excessive weight?!?!? it seems to eat front wishbones due to the void rubbers becomi...

Re: New Owner - 1992 Limited Edition
It was MOT'd in Jan this year. No advisories, which now concerns me. What do you know about lambdas? I've loads of options when I put my reg in, but I'm not sure if it's a part I should buy cheap(ish) or something I need to spend for quality. The wiring is quite lengthy and usually runs along the N...

Re: Rear wheel arch liner compatible part
Hi all, After spending so long sorting the rear of my Volvo480 out, I've protected the wheel arches but I'm thinking of putting a plastic wheel arch liner in, but as I don't have the originals I'm wondering if anyone has located a similar plastic liner from another car that would fit? Any recommend...

Re: My 480s so far!
Deffo order a pair of cables, no need to ever replace the single short one. I'm nae sure about that, I'd agree it is nearly impossible to do, but I always suspected that the one on previous 480 was a bit worn and stopping the handbrake from 'easily' releasing, I added a spring return at the spreade...

Re: Rescue Car: R5 - Black Manual SR Turbo
the door is on tapered hinges, so open the door, block of wood underneath and lift with a trolley jack. Lube up the pivots in advance of course! Aye, i did apply lots of WD40, removed the grub screw and sprayed into that as well I gave that method a trial, but didn't spend too long on it. I'll give...

Re: Under boot floor matt soaking?
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! 😂😂 I know I know, horrendous but it was starting to run from the back down the whole car and soaking the rear passenger seat and floor, I had to do something 😩 At least it's easy enough to remove silicone 😂 I used black insulating tap...

Re: Under boot floor matt soaking?
One of them does look quite tarnished, is the central bit at the back (where the key goes to open the boot) is that supposed to have a seal bcoz there's nothing there? 🤔 I think that there should be two samll rubber pads, about playing card size glued to the reflector and then thes are pulled tight...

Re: Under boot floor matt soaking?
Very common. First thing I would say is take the boot Matt out; the underside is a giant sponge so it’s quick to soak up water and will release it slowly. Usual water entry points to check. 1. Rear hatch wiring loom 2. Tailgate seal 3. Rear lamp seals 4. Rear reflector seals. I also try to park “no...

Re: Help/Advice needed!
It might be the throttle position switch, mine failed and left the revs at 'fast idle' which is not clever in town when dropping down a gear or 'lifting off' different models have different switching settings. I think it is a three position switch, mine was filled with oil from the throttle body, cu...

I'd agree if 'nowt' but if the resistances are 'about right' / 'within tolerance' then it would screw the ECU even further?

Re: Recommissioning a 480: 9. Final Bits
Hi James The PM I sent seems to be stuck in the Outbox at the moment. Maybe it only shows as Sent once you read it? Will keep checking it. Meanwhile the car today developed a bad misfire. It starts easily and the tickover comes down as it warms up. While the engine is cold it even pulls fairly well...

Re: Electric window winder
My mechanic uses an off site MOT station so I haven’t seen the paperwork yet, I understand that it was deemed as “safety critical” as it wouldn’t go down but if it had gone in already down it would have passed. I is the drivers side that has gone, am I correct in thinking that the OEM quoted for my...
