I'm up for some violence. - I'd be scared if three 480 drivers apeared at my door and demanded computer hardware. Damn ebay fraudsters! Friend of mine sold her phone, sent it off, meanwhile paypal revolked the payment due to some kind of hacking fraud and she was left with nothing. - wasn't covered ...

ah yes elastomeric dampers...

The old 'door wedge' lavaball mini suspension wasn't as bad as you'd think tho, elastomers damp through internal friction. Somebike suspension forks still use them.

- Still, think i'd rather have a gas strut!

YES!! Actually there is! Kwik-fit guidlines state that a damper should be replaced every 100miles or 48hours, whichever comes sooner.

(or 50miles for a woman)

In my experience horses like polo mints the best... Maybe not the best dietary supplement...

The big tasty... the unhealthy option at McDonalds - hahaha

- it does look good though. Maybe we should get Kirsty's car to do the taste test.

Didn't somebody say it was for cooling the turbos (hydrostatic?) bearings? Surely as an es/celebration is none turbo they don't do this, or have another function?!

Mr Bat is right. An oil damper should resist movement in either direction at every position on its stroke, whereas a healthy gas assisted strut will slowly extend. Ben's ugly shocker may well function correctly, that outer part is nothing more than a dirt shield anyway. Its pretty common to have oil...

So really the question is, is Kirsty's car a cow or a racehorse? (or maybe a genetically engineered fox?!)

It does stop! It took about three mins though, after having the engine on for 3 seconds. The thought that the prev owner has been doing the ignition twice for 10 years is hilarious. Hope this hasn't hurt the turbo...i don't imagine it has, its silent and smoke free. It's never been driven hard anywa...

Auxiliary Water Pump Stays on!

Hi, when i was given my turbo, i was told the only thing wrong with it, was that if you stop the engine, the fuel pump keeps going and flattens the battery, and that this could be stopped by turning the key to the half way position, and back. My investigatins on the forum seem to suggest its the aux...

I'd be very interested in the plastic painted part of NS (passenger) wing mirror, and also one of those little tiny plastic hooks for the fabric thing in the boot.

Have these bits going? How much?

I've lowered an Ibiza, and a Panda but i'm not sure about the 480, it feels sorted already. How do all you lowered people get out of your cars? i feel like i'm lieing down when i get out of my standard height turbo! Springs should be simple enough to fit, just a jack up job at the back. You need spr...

I had a go at this today.... those 17mm head bolts are a pain. i ended up hamering on a smaller imperial socket, which shifted them. Off to volvo tomorrow to get nw bolts!

By the way, to introduce myself i'm john, former fiat panda-god, owner of "the" panda, and new owner of a mint 94' turbo in red.
