Painting a bumper

https://i.imgur.com/wh8slC1.jpg Does anyone have experience of repainting a bumper? Bodyshop have said the black insert is similar to a body tape, so if they respray the entire bumper it can't be reproduced as it is fitting over the paint. The attached picture highlights as its white (Sylvia's rece...

Re: The story of #89/480 continues...

I've just received a WR Composities splitter as mine was damaged beyond repair.

It is much thicker and less flexible than the original, so will need some fettling to get it to fit nicely.

A set of ramps will probably help.

Wayne made mine in the correct colour which was a bonus.

Re: My 480 life is just beginning!

Starting to look really good Marc! :D Rust levels are fine, nothing to worry about there. Take care when re-fitting the bumper as the side plastic clips can get brittle with age and snap if they are twisted about too much. Fuse 23 is indeed a bridge - I don't know exactly how it is wired in but if ...

Re: My 480 life is just beginning!

So the next chapter begins... After yesterday's mechanicals, today starts the cleaning process. This car has been very well looked after but it's been washed badly and probably not polished in 24 years. Quite a few bird etchings and some touch-ups (which is to be expected), and lots and lots of wash...

Re: My 480 life is just beginning!

So had a full day working on the 480. Wife came up with the nickname of 'Mivvy' after the numberplate letters, so that's what she will now be known as from now on. Started with checking all fuses and swapping out those of the wrong value. I guess a previous owner used the spares even if they were th...

Re: Manual Gearbox Oil Change - Ins and Outs

The Elf Tranself NFP 75W-80 (5 ltr) is only £48 delivered from ebay/Amazon etc.

Personally, I wouldn't take the risk of using an alternative especially for such a small saving.

Thanks Robert for the info. I know what I will use.

If you're looking for additional items to add to your basket at Opie, then add some DYNAX S50.... Trust me, you own a 480, you'll need this!
True. Going to be my project before the winter layup. Didn't realise they stocked this. Good spot!

Re: Manual Gearbox Oil Change - Ins and Outs

If you do choose the Millers TRX SYNTH 75w80 oil for your gearbox, then buy direct from www.opieoils.co.uk. Enter promo code 'volvo' (VOC discount code) and get 10% discount. 5 litres works out at about £41 delivered. This code of course works with everything else they sell. All fluids, filters etc....

Try this website https://www.dmb.uk.com/cat/163/dealer-stickers They have lots of old dealer stickers and they used to show lots of old dealer stickers for their plates, I remember looking for an old golf before, might be with a try? Thanks to 89of490's recommendation, I contacted Dave and Kate at ...

Re: Group Buy for Heater Knobs

Just had an email from Rudiger. He has been very honest. "I uploaded the latest model now on Shapeways and chose the best fitting colour. I also added just 1 € margin for me. Nevertheless the price is ridiculously high (more than 7 Euros). I am not sure if you like to order it. For me it looks too e...

Any news is good news! Got a couple of old ones for refurb from Tom on Volvo 480 UK. Scrapping his SE sadly, but has a lovely identical one being lovingly restored with some modern touches. https://i.imgur.com/uxZ2pkj.jpg I've spoken to Rudiger at Shapeways who made some 3D printed prototype knobs f...

+1 for Vehicle Smart app. Couldn't remember all the MOT, insurance dates etc. without it. Also very useful for checking the history of everyone else's cars!! +1 for the dehumidifer too. Hard wired and plumbed into the garage. Make sure you get a dessicant model and not a compressor type for our cold...

Posting images using IMGUR

A post without pictures just doesn't have the same impact. I know there are many options to add images to posts, but I find IMGUR easy (and free for now!). Here’s a quick & simple guide to uploading pictures and adding it into a post. Go to IMGUR and create an account: -https://imgur.com/ https://i....
