Re: battery warning light on but alternator charging fine

Hi all, Problem solved!! :hopping: :hopping: It wasn't the regulator after all (tried it with a scrap one, cost all of 2 quid of an old peugeot with the same alternator) I stripped the alternator down and tested the diodes in the rectifier, turns out one of the diodes was toast. There are 9 d...

Re: battery warning light on but alternator charging fine

Put a shiny new bosch s5 superduper battery on it not long ago (all 120 quids worth of it!! , so i doubt if its that. Thanks for clarifying about the voltages cancelling each other out, i understand much better how it works now, if you have the same voltage applied to a component but in oppo...

Re: battery warning light on but alternator charging fine

thanks for the quick replies, the voltmeter is saying that its charging at about 14-15 volts, which is about right. Also, i think the battery would have been knackered by now if it wasnt because i drive 60 miles a day to work and back, with day running lights, ecu, stereo etc it would have flatted b...

Re: gas struts for rear hatch

Yes i do have them on my turbo and they fit wonderfully considering they're off a completely different car! They hold it up better than the volvo one's anyway. They came off a circa 1998 hatchback peugeot 206. Paid a fiver for the pair. :hopping: Plus you can take pleasure in destroying a scrap peug...

Re: Strange vibration from wheels... i think

Hi, I trust that the wheels have been balanced properly and are not damaged? Assuming that the balance is good and there are no deformations in the rim then being bolted on off centre will undoubtedly cause some sort of vibration. Do you have bolts with a tapered shank or are they the flat type. If ...

Re: strange sloshing noise

I dont think its anything to do with that, it sounds like a fair quantity of liquid. Imagine you have a bottle of pop in the door pocket and then you brake to a stop, you hear it slosh around in the bottle, sounds exactly like that   It is worrying me a bit as liquid means one thing, R...

strange sloshing noise

hi, any ideas what may be causing a strange sloshing noise? It almost sounds like the fuel in the tank splashing forwards when braking but it apperars to be coming from somewhere very close to my right hand side. Checked the sill by taking the bungs out, bone dry, and also the inside of the drivers ...

Re: Ball joint nut rusted on..

if you can't get it off by the heat and hit method then your only option is to remove the knuckle assembly (use good qual. hex sockets on the strut and bottom ball joint-wishbone bolts) so you can access the thing properly and try a single hex socket with a breaker bar or failing that grind the thin...

Re: Auxillary driving lights, very odd behaviour

Thanks for your reply, i wondered whether it may be CEM related as i have read about much woe with these things on the forum. Do you reckon it might be worth taking it out and opening it up to inspect for failed capacitors etc. I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron so if i can locate a faulty compo...

Auxillary driving lights, very odd behaviour

Hi all, i am new to the forum having recently purchased a 480 turbo. It is a wonderfull car however the electrics seem to be a real problem child. I have several minor niggles, however the most annoying and urgent one is the strange behaviour that my auxillary lights are exhibiting. When the car is ...
