Re: Switzerland: 14500 GBP for... well...??

Dont know about prices in France but there is a strong following for them in NL so more expensive there Interesting that a Celeb has found it's way over there. Any chance of finding out the no of 480 and colour ? Would be useful for the Celebration Register. More expensive in NL? I will have a look...

Switzerland: 14500 GBP for... well...??

So, here is what I just saw for sale here in Switzerland: https://www.autoscout24.ch/de/8197551?utm_campaign=as24_share_iphone&utm_medium=social_sharing&utm_source=sms The market here is small and a bit schizophrenic, I’m afraid. Cars like mine (reasonably ok, Swiss MOT, no huge issues) - and there ...

Re: Battery dying? Strange symptoms (for a newbie)

So yes, it must indeed have been the battery. The starter never clicks anymore, and as a bonus, it also seems that my dirt-cheap car radio is now much less impacted by electromagnetic noises from the engine. Interesting.
Thanks to all and have a nice Sunday evening.

Re: Best looking smartphone holder / integration solution?

Isn' the Brodit Pro Clip still available for our car? I seem to remember that it goes to the side of the tall air vent. That may be a bit delicate and far away for navigation screen though. I just had a look at the Brodit Proclip for the 480, you are right, it would sit off the driver's dashboard -...

Re: Best looking smartphone holder / integration solution?

Thank you everyone... It looks like I am quite alone in wanting to see my phone's screen! The biggest reason is dynamic navigation. With COVID, I am taking the car to work through the city (daily driver!), and traffic changing means it is useful to have Waze guiding me according to what works. More ...

Best looking smartphone holder / integration solution?

Morning everyone, When I got my 480 in August, it came with one of those suction cup smartphone holders as well as a cigarette lighter adapter. It worked fine for holding my smartphone but was decidedly off-period. Of course an iPhone in a 480 will always be off-period, but I figured I could do bett...

Re: My new life with a youngtimer

I can find you a mint condition 1992 Turbo auto with 51,000 kms for 10,000: https://www.dijkstra-classic-cars.nl/onze-autos/480-turbo/ I guess the tax on importing a car, even over 25 years old, is tremendous in DK. In NL we have very high taxes on new cars, but the tax collector says deprecation o...

Re: Battery dying? Strange symptoms (for a newbie)

So, no need to worry Brinkie, apparently no problem at all with the lower format, and the starter is at least 50% faster. Let’s see if that avoids the blackouts I have been experiencing. While dismounting the old battery I had the impression it was fitted a bit loosely and that perhaps that could ha...

Are all 480 antennas electric?

Evening everyone,
I was wondering... my antenna does not move, for whatever reason, but could it be a manual one? I think it is original.
I do not listen to FM radio anyway, but was wondering how correct an immobile antenna would be.
Thank you!

Re: Battery dying? Strange symptoms (for a newbie)

Done - I have just ordered the battery you have suggested. It is almost too easy... How nice to get help like this. Thank you Brinkie! Bummer... I thought it was the correct one, but it turns out you need a Varta D24 instead of the D59. However, the price, capacity, cold cranking amps, footprint an...

Re: Battery dying? Strange symptoms (for a newbie)

One thing to consider..... As the winter approaches, we use more electric (headlamps, blowers, heated rear window etc). Of course a modern alternator is designed to cope with all of this, but I'd encourage you to have a read of this post once you've got your new battery fitted. Yes, thank you, hopi...

Battery dying? Strange symptoms (for a newbie)

Good morning to all from Switzerland! I have just parked my 480 and it won't start again. Symptoms (starting with the colder nights, whether by coincidence or not): - Since a few days, sometimes the starter would just click, then after a few tries it would start the engine - Sometimes in the morning...

Re: Scrap or restore? Honest opinions needed!

Hi Alfie, I am a newbie, not just to 480s but to any car projects, but if it's the engine you are worried about, I think I saw one recently on a German website, and the price was low (300 EUR or so, from memory). I would not be able to swap an engine, but if you are, perhaps you can find one for rea...

Switzerland project car, 50 chf bid, Ricardo.ch

As I am new here I do not know how interesting a car without number plates sitting in Switzerland can be for everyone. But interior looks ok, some rust repairs done... and I suspect based on the market here that it will go for 500 chf or so.

Re: 3d printed spare and repair parts

Sorry, just to be clear... What I asked my friend for was not the whole knob, but the repair part mentioned earlier, which is a kind of 2-3 cm long tube.
