Re: Northants - Lincolnshire Wolds Meet Saturday July 22nd 2023
Al and I decided to take Eva, his turbo, and Paris. First stop on Friday afternoon was our bodyshop, where I had taken the Saab for some bodywork and stupidly left my satnav on the windscreen when Al picked me up. They were quite surprised to see double trouble arrive https://www.dragonflyjewel.co.u...

Re: Peter Horbury RIP
Yes, all of the 4 series was aimed at America. Under American regulations, the range had to achieve an average mpg and the 480 was the one that brought the average down low enough. It was nicknamed the mpg car. As the 480 was their first front wheel drive, Volvo wanted it to be as innovative as poss...

Re: Peter Horbury RIP
Very sad news about Peter Horbury. A few corrections: Not sure whether it was already mentioned on here but Volvo designer Peter Horbury died recently. I believe he was responsible for designing the 480's interior as well as deciding the Volvo grille should go under the bonnet. A direct quote from R...

Apologies to anyone who didn't realise we had to cancel the meet in June - it was very short notice so I hope no-one had a wasted journey. I've now re-arranged it for 22nd July, and hope the date is good for as many people as possible. Here is the schedule : TOBY CARVERY, WOOTTON NN4 0TG 8.30 – 10.0...

It would also be worth saving the roof bars and the rails they bolt to (a rare optional extra) plus have a little look to see if the bottom lip on the front spoiler is intact.

Re: Northants - Lincolnshire Wolds meet June 17th
Lunch will be at the Harbour Cafe, just a short walk from our favourite parking spot. They don't take bookings, so we will have to wait and see how long the queue is. If it's another lovely day, it might be horrendous in which case I'll be ringing a few other places to find out if they can accomodat...

480 Lookalike ?
We've been trawling old magazine archives looking for 480 adverts - I did a double take when I saw this USA offering from 1990 https://www.dragonflyjewel.co.uk/480/Capri/capriadvert.png is it just me or does that look like a rounded version of a 480 cabrio ? especially when you see one with black st...

Re: Welcome Seymour
When this came up for sale, I looked at the photos to see if was a prospect for the rescue group. All the engine parts in the boot made me think 'no, can't expect Jeff to sort that lot out!' Little did I know it would be on his front drive the next time we visited...... Talk about dedicated

Re: Snazzy's story
Flicking through last year's photos on my phone, I suddenly dawned on me that that Al's efforts last year were unrecorded on here. Next upgrades on Snazzy: https://www.dragonflyjewel.co.uk/sylvia/snazzy/carpet.jpg Early pile carpet replaced the original late felt-type one. DC kindly gave me a matchi...

Re: Paris Blue Convertible Prototype up for sale!!!!
I've always had my doubts about this one - there are several that came out the factory as standard then got converted by their owners. Eric Vanaubel (co-author of the 480 book) is currently doing just that to a turbo he bought for the purpose. My suspicions were raised by 3 things already pointed ou...
