Re: Wanted: Driver's side door lock
Unfortunately I don't have a picture and the car is still at the garage so I can't say for sure, although the surround around the lock is damaged as well so I fear it's going to be the whole thing. Another thing that's just occurred to me is whether I'm going to have to replace all the locks or carr...

Wanted: Driver's side door lock
    So I left my 480 at a garage at the weekend while the electronics are being sorted out and some f***rs with too much time on there hands decided to go at the door lock with a screwdriver. The whole thing is caved in so it's going to need replacing. What's really bizar...

As far as I'm aware the only things on the webshop are a lot of error messages, might just be me though.

Re: Wanted: CEM for 1989 ES 1.7
Fingers crossed I've got one on it's way from a kind bloke who's breaking an H-reg 1.7ES he believes is from 1990. Mine is an F-reg '89 so I could be in luck. The garage is a small local operation that my family has had dealings with for years so I doubt they're trying to shaft me, they actually mad...

Wanted: CEM for 1989 ES 1.7
My CEM has died (see my earlier threads on indicator problems) so I need a replacement - a local garage said they could get me a new one for around £600 but obviously that's probably (if not definitely) more than I would be able to sell the car for, so I need to find a used replacement or it's a wr...

Re: Troubleshooting Indicator Failure
My indicators have stopped working so the car is off the road It's not a big problem. You can use your own hands - just open the window and pull the arm out the window - straight arm - direction right. Arm bent 90 degrees - direction left :hopping: ( very oldschool solution - before second world wa...

Re: Troubleshooting Indicator Failure
The relay clicks in the same manner if that's what you mean, it's just twice as fast as normal.

Troubleshooting Indicator Failure
There seems to be little or no info on this on the forum so I've started my own thread. My indicators have stopped working so the car is off the road until further notice, which will start causing me problems as of my morning commute tomorrow! Symptoms are as follows: -Double-speed clicking o...

Re: Easy way to remove the hazard light switch?
indeed, found it about 30 seconds ago... Still no joy though, is there a way of bypassing the CEM to allow the indicators to function without it until I can repair/replace it?

Re: Easy way to remove the hazard light switch?
The previous owner seems to have been 'creative' with the screws when re-fitting the dash so removing it is easier said than done! The other possibility I have in mind is a wet/dodgey CEM, but I can't find the bugger! I've removed the panel underneath the bonnet release as per the FAQ but no j...

Easy way to remove the hazard light switch?
My indicators are not working and the relay is clicking in double time. From reading the forum it appears that indicator problems can be caused by bad hazard light switches. I've got the clock and info centre switches out but I can't get at the hazard light switch out which I'd like to do as it's cu...

Re: Sale
Kev you wouldn't still happen to have the car itself would you? I'm repairing the damage I mentioned in my PM and I'm looking for a passenger side front wing, mine was already rusted so now seems like a good time to replace it.

Re: Breaking Early 1988 Volvo 480 es.
How far are you able to dismantle the car? I'm in the market for a passenger side front wing (the panel in front of the door) if it's the kind of thing you could remove.

Re: Sale
Any chance of a few pictures of the interior set? My driver's seat is a bit broken and the passenger seat is on it's way out so I might be interested if I can think of a way of getting them to Oxfordshire... (Might have to work out a deal with my parents and their 'sensible' V70 )

Re: Quick 1 about best Engine to buy!?!
Not a very useful input I know and for that I apologize, but have you considered taking the engine out of a 440 or 460 rather than a 480? After all there are a lot more of them kicking about on the roads than their are 480's...

Re: Rear Wiper Question
Probably the motor. Happened to mine before it went in for 'winter check-up' at the local Volvo garage and they said that the motor will do that when it's on it's way out. It's on my list of stuff to do before the next MOT but for now I'm sticking with the clever switch timing method.

Re: Troubleshooting Rear Fogs
Had a go testing them on various earth points, still no joy.
To be honest I never use them, useless or not, however I was informed by a salesman at my local Volvo garage that the car would fail it's MOT if they don't work...

Troubleshooting Rear Fogs
I noticed that my rear fogs were not working so I decided to take them apart over the weekend, and came up against a few issues... 1) I understood that 480's, like most other Volvos, have only one rear fog, the other being a dummy. Both my rear fogs are wired in and have bulbs. 2)Both bulbs ...
