Re: Clutch lol

Thats right, the larger clutch obviously has a larger circumference, so the bolt holes are further out toward the edge of the flywheel. I wouldn't try and drill for a different one myself, you'd need an engineering shop to do it. I would recommend getting the flywheel friction surface skimmed, save ...

Re: Clutch lol

There was a bit of mis-information bandied about regarding the flywheel differences - some even by myself being mistaken. Further investigation turned out that the timing marks on the flywheels are identical, the only difference is in the size of the friction surface and the location of the holes fo...

Re: My newest purchase...

That looks lovely.
We had one briefly about 8/9 years ago. C33 xxx.
Took the sideskirts off and there were NO sills underneath.
Then took the boot carpet/trim out and there were NO sides to the boot where the suspension mounted

Re: Power Stearing removel

He replaced the rack with one from a 440 Li - no power steering.
The 440 rack has a variable pitch on the rack so its OK for parking - i never had any trouble with mine.

Re: Hairy Exhaust?

Yes...when I borrowed my grandfathers 440 this happened, on the motorway flat out top speed was 50 - going through the "devon dip" with lorrys tearing past me wasn't much fun.

Re: bit of help please!!

The vacuum pipe on the ECU just needs to connect to any of the three vacuum ports on the left (as you look at it) of the manifold.

The pipes to the sensor on the water pipe are to to with the EVAP system and in your case can be done away with.

Re: Where i went (carwise) after my beloved 480..

Yes, that's right, an accident that was someone elses fault, will put your own insurance up. Obviously the higher insurance grouping of the car, proportionally the increase will be higher. If I was still in a 480, or something "average" it wouldn't be half as crippling. I've not even bothered to be ...

V8 engined Audi sold  but for more than I paid for it :D

R Plate 2.0 V40 Auto for my wife, diesel company car for me (if it ever comes back at this rate)

Have to wait a couple of years before we can sensibly insure a serious car again....

Re: Where i went (carwise) after my beloved 480..

i had the s40 diesel :D I had an S40 diesel too. It was shit. We'vestill got the big Audi, averaging about 19mpg. At the moment I am having to do 700 miles per week in a Kia Ceed diesel due to some guy in a passat not checking his mirrors properly (or at all, not sure) and gnarlsing my Octavia righ...

Re: Probably the most powerful anti speeding ad you'll ever see

When parked next to my bosses Passat, you really can see the similarity - the switchgear is exactly the same, the stereo was identical. As for what might replace it if it is totally knacked, It depends what is on 'the list' this time, I had 21 models in various trim levels to choose from last time (...

Re: Probably the most powerful anti speeding ad you'll ever see

Yes, my 14 month old company car.

It was quite nice.

I had grown quite attached to it over the last 36,000 miles.

Still, if they write it off I get to choose a new one.

Look up limit point analysis. Simply drive so you can stop within the distance you can see to be clear - numerical speed is irrelevant. If the distance I can see round a sharp blind bend on narrow roads with a 60mph limit is <10mph, that is what I will do. Don't start an overtake on the approach to ...

Oh dear.... :? Long extension bar with wobble joint on it to undo the downpipe bolts. Absolutely no need to take the turbo off - in fact that is harder to do! If you separate the downpipe from the cat the downpipe won't clear the subframe on the way up, so the engine would have to come out downwards...

Check out the Tesla roadster and then tell me electric cars arent the future! I would say that the Honda Hydrogen fuel cell powered car is the future, being that hydrogen is the most abundant element in the known universe. The problem with electric is that it still has to come from somewhere, and m...
