It's like Brasil under the hood!

Four single females to one single male! I'm just curious what these plugs are for? Female no. 1 comes out of a bundle of three plugs, two of which are connected to .. (is that the alternator?): http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i136/Ho_Kyung/female1.jpg no. 2 just lies there in the middle all the wa...

Woohoo, finally got around to setting up a photobucket account and taking some pictures of my little bit of homeland. Just a bog-standard ES 1.7, nothing special, but I like it. From the back in front of our house: http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i136/Ho_Kyung/car.jpg And from the front: http://i7...

Dan the 480 Man (mind if I call you Dan?): Thanks for the tip on the clips. The speaker grill comes off by just sliding it back and forth and left and right gently? It just seemed to get stuck at some point and I didn't dare push it any harder. Chriss1roll: If by "whole lock" you mean the cylinder a...

Doorlock replacing

I recently bought a driverside doorlock and key on ebay because my key won't turn when I put it in. I've removed the inside panels before to have a peek and thought it would be straightforward to replace the thing. Hm. Yes. So anyway. Having fiddled with it, and not getting my old lock out because t...

No (or hardly any) body-roll makes me a happy customer, I love my fast corners. In my not-so-very-extensive experience with different models of cars, this is my first time actually experiencing the "seat-of-the-pants" driving. You can really feel the car getting its sideways tendencies when you're p...

Would mind the dashboard lights. My parking break indiciator light has died and it's driving me nuts (also had me driving off with the parking break still engaged). How much for them? ho.kyung@gmail.com is my email. Thanks. As in: wouldn't mind. And here I am, all logged in and everything. Sorry ab...

Sorry about the lateness, but here we go: Yes that wire was definately the power lead for the IC. So it is a grey and red sleeved wire, of which there are two and you want the thin one. I think it might be either plugged into the back of one of the plugs for the stereo, or it might just run behind w...

Just spent the afternoon sorting out my dead ic. On my car, the main power feed for the ic was looped into the original stereo plug (two wires into one terminal). The previous owner had chopped this about to fit his stereo, and cut the live feed to the ic. I re-made this connection and all was fine...

Info on fuel types and RON numbers and stuff here on Petrolprices.com . Which is btw a good (and free) way to see if you're paying the lowest possible price for your fuel in your neighbourhood :) It also mentions Tesco's uberhigh RON super.

cltuch replacement

My clutch is acting up, as the seller warned me it would. So even from before buying, I've been looking into replacing it. Thing to remember here for anyone making recommendations, is I'm no car mechanic by any stretch of the imagination and I would go to a garage to have it fitted, so please keep i...

In Top Gear magazine there's a picture of the interior and it shows two seats, just like the 480, seperated by an armrest, also just like our 480s. I can't host pics, or I'd scan it and post it and the search on the Top Gear site is hopeless for finding anything but info on cars to buy, ie. can't be...

Remember how the very first Pentium chips couldn't devide properly... would explain a lot of the gremlins found in the 480 electrical system... :) [i know, i know - that micro controller probably won't do floating point calculations] There was (is on those chips still in use of course :P ) a 1 in 3...

So to recap, if my fuel consumption is getting close to twice what it should be according to the specs posted on the homepage (as they are :( ), I should try: - cleaning the fuel injectors (with RedX or whatever the name is?) - check tyre pressure - or have it retuned + gas treatement (wasda? ie. co...

Hello 480 lovers :)

So I got the final word on a 480 on eBay and I'm picking it up this weekend :hopping: . What did/do you guys think about it? Is that clutch asking to be replaced, or is it more likely to be a clutch cable adjustment (or some other minor thingamagicky)? I talked to the owner and he says the slippage ...
