Re: I have strayed (well, technically only very slightly...)

Well if that's your idea of straying there's not much chance of your Lily leaving the nest ! Nice to see you back on here, and what a great colour your 440 is. Be nice to see it in the metal when we are finally allowed to have meetings of more than 6 people again.....

Re: Anyone had experience with Mk1 Cavaliers?

The least said about Allegros the better - mine was AWFUL. And as for the Scimitar Al bought, complete and utter rust bucket.

Re: A Sorry Looking Celebration

It wasn't on the register but it is now - Jeff spotted it this morning as well. Have already messaged the seller in the hopes of more info. Also been debating R2 !! Like buses, nothing worth buying for months, now this.... Anyone local enough to go and check it out ?

Volvo 480 book

Delighted to say that the Dutch book about the 480 I have been English-language editing and partially re-writing is finally finished. :D It starts with the background of Volvo coupes and follows the 480 from conception right through to the end of production. Along the way it sheds light on some of t...

Re: Rescue Car: R1

Delighted to say the fund has now hit the target ! Many thanks to all the donors - it's things like this that make this club so special. There will be ongoing costs so any further donations will be gratefully received and put to good use. I've spent a few hours sorting most of the car's documents an...

Here is the link to the money pool again (just because it isn't on this thread) : Donate here We are now just £100 short of the initial target, set at £750. (£500 to buy the car and £250 for parts and mot test) It's great to know there is so much enthusiasm in the club to preserve our cars, especial...

Re: Rescue Car: R1

Well done Jeff on identifying the utube history ! The sale doc to Amber says possibly the starter solenoid. Looking through the car's documents, I'd really like to contact the previous owner and let him know his wife's pride and joy is safe. Such a shame the seats have gone. We're getting a set of l...

Sounds like quite an adventure, I will try and get involved if I can. Why the R1 designation?
Just Rescue 1 for want of a better name. Hopefully there will be more in the future.

Rescue Car: R1

Al and I had a very tiring few days, entirely our own fault due to forgetting stuff and having to go back and get it. Plus we took Snazzy with us for a bit of electrical tlc from Jeff only to discover that the bodyshop had done something untoward when they refitted the fuel tank. We simply could not...

Re: A pool 480?

It's moved to Monday as the best trailer company proved to be one that isn't open at weekends. Al and I are driving to Northampton tomorrow where we'll have an overnight stay in the usual meet Travelodge. Monday, collect trailer at 8.30, 2.5 hours to collect the car, lunch, 2.5 hours back to deliver...

Change the starter motor.
Or get the original Volvo one rewound - I was told they are better quality. We had Lily's done by Just Alternators and Starter Motors on James' recommendation and very happy with them.

Re: Car Wanted

No idea when during 1989-90 the change was. Information is from the translation of a Dutch book I've been English-language editing. The parts list may shed some light if it gives chassis nos the cat fits.

Re: A pool 480?

Perhaps the car could circulate (not sure how) to members specialising in particular aspects of 480 maintenance / restoration. For example, I'm sure there will be someone who is a dab hand at repolishing rear lenses, someone else who is a brakes guru, others who have skills in trim repair, someone ...

Re: 1994 Volvo 480 Turbo Diary

Your ramblings were actually very interesting and I totally agree with you that our cars should have their original registrations. Good luck with dvla on getting yours back - I understand they are quite sympathic having seen the light and ditched the bingo machine. The only one of our cars on a priv...

Re: A pool 480?

Anyone can donate any time or any amount they wish - it will all go to the rescue fund. We will need to think about insuring it, and it may well need more for the parts budget if Jeff finds more needs doing. I'm thinking Jeff could list anything it needs that could be second hand on here in case som...
