Re: Replacing Clutch Cable

Well, I did this job again, the other clutch cable started to fray and when I took it off, it well only held by four stands! This time the job took me equally as long as last time three years later, and I have the same cuts on my hand because of the air vent diaphragm cutting in to me. For future re...

Re: Brake disc backing plates

I think they are welded on! I cant see any bolts holding them on whatsoever. Going to take the disc off at the weekend and investigate.

Thanks

Brake disc backing plates

Are these brake disc backing plates/splash guards required for the MOT?

Mine are starting to rust away, so how do they attach to the axle? Are they bolted on with the caliper carriers I wonder? I can't see how they are attached to the car...

Kind Regards

Re: Damp Passenger Carpet

Well for me it turned out that it was the hoses where they went through the bulkhead. Took the bottom cover from the heater matrix housing and it was bone dry, dusty in fact, no white residue left over from when coolant evaporates or anything similar. It hadn't seen any water since it was made. Easy...

Re: Damp Passenger Carpet

Thankyou for the photos - went to the scrapyard earlier and got one from a 440 (same part as mine). I think the plastic case is dry because the water evaporates because of the heat from the matrix, it is definitely coolant in the footwell... could only be the heater matrix itself or the pipes maybe....

Re: Damp Passenger Carpet

Think my heater matrix has gone too.

Took the console and carpets off but the plastic cover for the heater matrix is bone dry.

Are there any secrets to removing the plastic cover, is it just undo the bolts and pull it apart?

Re: Rear inner bumper parts drawings/availability

I'll have one for sure. At the price it would make sense to buy two - if you intend to keep the car.

Somebody ought to reproduce these.

Re: 2012 Sauerlandmeeting [June 1st to 3rd]

Hello, Many thanks once again to the organisers, we all had a great time - shame that we couldn't make the Friday due to work commitments. Our stay in our holiday home was extended by two days further, because my alternator failed. I ordered one on Monday, from ATU in Meschede, but had to wait 2 day...

N... VAN Celebration - Walkden Ave, Wigan

Saw you today and followed you along Walkden Ave for a bit.

Can't remember the last time I saw another 480 (probably since last year at the meet, when I saw a few...)

Re: no air con 95 celeb

You should hear the compressor kick in as you switch it on (might take a fraction of a second).

It could be anything, but when mine was playing up, I ended up taking apart my VEM and finding lots of dry joints to re-solder.

Re: WANTED CEM1 for H reg 480 ES

Are you still looking for this?

There is (as of Saturday) a G reg ES in at my local scrappy. Most good bits are gone now, it's been there a while, but I think that the CEM area is untouched. Might be worth a look if you are in the area. It's in Haydock.

Re: Availability of New Parts

I contated Scandcar today. I asked them about the rear lights and they've come back to me saying that they are working on a reproduction.

I also asked about indicators, and they said that they also have plans to reproduce those!

Very happy with that, hope that they make them...

Re: Availability of New Parts

Well, Perhaps I'll need to accept the fate of the 480, they are, as mentioned, 17years old at thier newest, perhaps Volvo expected all 480s to have died by now. It would have been nice to have some brand new rear lights and indicattors though. I contacted Volvo Global Customer Services yesterday to ...
