Re: Old one being broken in Norfolk
Robert here :) The change of ECU temperature sensors to NTC was at chassis no. 520281, before that PTC sensors were used. Both ECU are Fenix S 100620 What I think are corresponding numbers: p/n 9031281-0 for the PTC ECU according to the parts book 411921 and S100803 102C on the sticker, according to...

Re: Old one being broken in Norfolk
This is a model year 1988 car with a later version of the B18E engine ECU: one that uses normally available NTC sensors. Any owner of an early B18E engined car, which has an ECU that uses unobtainium PTC sensors should take notice. The ECU of this 1988 car should be a straight swap with one in a 198...

Re: 480 offset crash test footage
I think Audi also had a feature whereby the Steering wheel was pulled away from you in a crash before they had airbags, really interesting seeing how these things developed Audi's procon-ten system (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Procon-ten) was so well engineered, Audi was one of the last manufactu...

Re: Engine removal
Given you have a fair amount of time and skills, give the cilinder head and valves a good cleanup as well. Turbo exhaust valves are of a special, sodium-filled kind so probably unobtainium, but you can grind the valves and valve seats to make them smooth again and replace the valve stems, then adjus...

Re: It Ran When Parked! An Calamitous Update
I think Paul Darrow's gripping performance of Avon in Blake's 7 has rubbed off on me quite a bit, as I have approached this with a sardonic sense of irony and humour, while remaining determined to see it come good. Are we sure we're talking to an 18-year-old here? (back in the Windows 95 days...

Re: 1992 480ES - no MOT since 2017. Thoughts?
I think speedo and info centre not working are the least of your worries with this car, it's a DIY job and can be farmed out at small cost if need be. Rust in the wheel arches and more rust hiding in places you don't see is what you really should be worrying about. Rear bumper support is most likely...

Re: Dashboard Test !!
The electronics of the 480 speedometer work as follows: - a sensor (pick-up coil) in the gearbox senses passing teeth of the gears - electronics in the speedometer detect this and create two signals -- 1. a PWM signal for the speedometer needle and infocenter computer -- 2. a stepper motor control s...

I loved this first episode but you know that as I was one of the first to tell you on WhatApp I hope they can find enough enthusiasts for a follow up as my friends from Weird Car Twitter are either too old (as in, over 24) or too shy to appear.

Re: Rotating Pop-up dial bulb
Just for the record, these bulbs are generic T5 1.2W 12V and there is also one in the hazard light switch, which ought to have a lower wattage otherwise it will show its hazard sign very dominantly but it won't hurt so I've put one in anyway :) I've always bought these as a set of 10 as that is chea...

That is no problem if you have one. Djurre is a very sympathetic guy, long-time 480 Turbo owner (inherited the car from his uncle), he uses the car almost daily.

Re: Volvo 480 (GT?) For Sale
This is probably not a GT. The red GT-Logo belongs to a Chevrolet. The 480 GT should have an adjustable seat on the passenger side and a front spoiler. btw: my GT has no lockable compartment in the back between the seats GT of the UK has a different spec than GT of the Continent. Especially the int...

No ignition light, car does start and run. I measured the earth points near the battery and alternator, aswell as the engine, all measure the same 12.22v. No ignition light? Not even with engine off and ignition on? If you have 1000 kroner to spare for your car, you could send the instrument cluste...

So, while Rachel and our families announce this on Facebook, etc., I'm very happy to announce to my little gang that she is pregnant and we should have a little one with us in late April, May. Wow, I have missed this because I didn't look at the forum for a few days, but what a great news James and...

There are four drive shafts for the 400-series: - Turbo and B20F (so basically everything from MY 1993 onwards) have number 3432598 or exhange part 9031181-2 left hand side, 3436010 / 9031177-0 right hand side - all others have number 3432596 or exhange part 9031180-4 left hand side and 3436009 / 90...
