I guess that will be difficult. There were 2 'new' 440's at the dealer (1994-1995) and both didn't had the megafuse. So finding one at a scrap yard isn't gonna work here. I find it strange that a modification like this isn't used in all cars. What I read here is that newer 400 serie cars in England ...

Volvo dealer didn't knew anything about a megafuse. After several minutes of searching they found some information about it. Seems that it has never been installed in cars in the Netherlands. The mechanic also said he had never seen one. They could order a megafuse for me, but not the megafuse holde...

New wire from alternator to battery, install megafuse?
Today I discovered that the thick red wire from the alternator isn't very healthy anymore. The bend in the wire near the alternator (the part which is bending due to engine movement) has cracked insulation, the copper is exposed and oxidated and the remaining part of the insulation seems to have bee...

Repair orange (fuel) ECU idle valve control
I've killed the idle valve control part of my ECU. Already replaced the ECU with a screapy one, but I want to try to repair my old one. It al began with cleaning the connector of the idle valve. The wires inside the connecter weren't insulated for more than a cm and made contact when attaching the c...

It is the current fuel consuption. The difference is not related to wind, because sometimes the fuel consumtions changes with more than 1L/100km while driving a constant speed. New situation: I accelerate to 60km/h in fourth gear. Fuel consumtion at this speed begins at 5.5L/100km. Then it increases...

The 'problem' appears now also at lower speeds. Normally it uses 5.5-6L/100 when driving 60km/h in fourth gear, now it is 7-7.5. The same when doing 80-90km/h in fifth gear, then the fuel usage is 1-2L/100km more than before. It always happens after several km. When the engine is warming up the fuel...

Higher fuel consumption after several km of driving
I don't know if my 480 is sometimes running lean, or sometimes running rich. When the engine is warm (oil >80*) and I'm just on the highway, the fuel consumption is 6-7L/100km at 120-130km/h and the car runs smooth. I can drive this way for several km or sometimes even >20km. Mostly after i've slowe...

You don't need to say sorry, any information can be useful :) Tomorrow I will try something else. I've set idle rpm, for the situation with closed idle valve, to 700rpm as described in the topic 'your engine rpm'. This way the idle valve always has to let air through, even with a warm engine, to get...

Alternator current with fully charged battery
Last week I replaced my battery and the regulator with brushes on the alternator. Normally the current is +-14V so it is working fine. Last sunday after driving >100km, the Volt meter on the dash showed a little more than 12V. Is it normal that the current drops to 12-12.5V when the battery is full?...

Random rpm drop at idle and rpm drop when slowing down
My 480 Turbo ('89) idles perfect at 90% of the time. It runs steady at 800rpm when warm and at 950rpm when cold, but sometimes it falls back to +-500rpm and rises back up immediately. Sometimes it can idle perfect for minutes and sometimes it's falls back every 10s. When slowing down and I press the...

Normally there is not much pressure in the crankcase. But gasses can leak between the piston and the cilinder. Also water vapor has to get out of the crankcase. These gasses are sucked into the inlet. It's more like they are sucked through the small holes than that they are pressed through. I guess ...

To take a look at the diaphram inside you have to destroy the valve. It is not made for being opened. I think a way to check the diaphram is to block two of the thee pipes en blow into the third one. If you are able to blow through it, the diaphram must be cracked. Or the plastic is cracked somewher...

I thought my breather valve was broken too. I could blow through the hose from the intake manifold. So i've found second hand two other valves, but those dit exactly the same. So, I've opened one of the valve's to find out how it works: Picture (I'm not allowed to post images, try to fix this later....
