also, I need to find one of these for the pop-ups, I am tired of fixing them all the time, only for the passenger side to flip down again... By the way, if a headlight pops up when it should close or closes when it should pop up (and stays there), you have fixed the popup motor arm in the opposite ...

Re: Mint 440

Nice cars if you're into Volvos, probably a bit dull if you're not. I considered getting one when I was between 480s, although I was looking at later models. The pre-facelift versions are much more similar to the 480 both in terms of design and styling, which I presume a J reg ought to be. The post-...

Has anyone seen this car?
Not as far as I know, although I'd be happy to get in touch with the seller if you're interested but not local (although note well the very valid caveats raised by the esteemed members above).

I saw a white 480 on the roads in Oxford a...

Re: 26th October Mini Meet Lincolnshire Wolds

I'll be there - not sure which car yet as it's been a busy few months and I'm seriously behind on car maintenance but I have every faith that I will have at least one working 480 by the 26th!

Re: WANTED: rear lamps covers

Would be nice to get the CAD drawing for that rear mould, if it exists. No reason why they couldn't be produced using SLA or SLS 3D printing, although it wouldn't be cheap. Then again, expensive is better than non-existent. Translucent lenses could also be done via SLS. As far as the chrome coating ...

Re: Dendy's 480 Diary

Thanks for the offer David - I actually have spares for both sides and really only bothered putting one on as it fell apart (or rather I broke it  ) right before the MOT and I was in a rush, and we all know that temporary solutions are often the most permanent... I've sent Joep a message so ho...

Re: Dendy's 480 Diary

I always take the nosecone off, and am in agreement with Jeff regarding time taken vs. scraped knuckles. As you presumably noticed I have similar feelings about the fragility of the DRL lenses. Hopefully Joep will be able to sort me out with some replacements in the near future as the spare cluster ...

I'm in for the full day including the evening meal - I've been rather busy over the last few months and the cars have been a bit neglected so this will give me something to aim for!

the 'pipe' is the inlet for the air filter :-)
  Funny. Whenever I've seen it I've thought "that looks like the air intake, but that seems like an odd place to put it so it's probably something else". I'll show myself out.

Green Book Archive

The idea for this thread is to collect together as many of the original Volvo Green Books as possible for the 480 - there are a few available for download on the main site and some others in various locations around the internet, but it would be nice to have them all listed in a central location. If...

First post/forum login for a while, seems that the forum has really come back to life since the mail server problem got fixed so plenty to catch up on which is nice! Re: Loss of Power when engine is hot... fine when Cold

There's a useful document regarding fault codes here . It suggests that some codes might only appear "while the vehicle is driven and short time afterwards". Sadly, it doesn't go into detail about the protocol for getting under the bonnet and operating the diagnostics box while the car is in motion ...

I presume it's not working? If so then can you take pictures of the guts? Might be fixable.

Other than that, plenty on eBay it seems and common to the rest of the 400 series as well:

Re: No Fuel Gauge

Sounds like you are 90% of the way there, like I said the dry joint repair (if that is indeed the cause, let's hope it is as it's an easy fix) is pretty straightforward once you've done the first few joints. It also occurs to me that if it's literally just a case of a bulb or two not illuminating th...

Re: Miscellaneous bits available

Can you grab me the air intake from the scuttle? Heater blower too Unfortunately I'm not planning on returning for a second trip, I've forwarded the contact details on to you however. If I were you, I would get as many specific RHD parts as possible. Those are unique to UK cars, the rest can be fou...

Miscellaneous bits available

I went to get some bits off this car the other day, the owner will be scrapping it next week but is happy to remove bits and post (within reason) or hold on to things for collection if there's anything people need. It's fairly stripped but it still has hoses, pumps, pop-ups, clutch/accelerator cable...

Re: 3d printed spare and repair parts

I've used both 3DHubs and Shapeways ( link ) in the UK for quick prototypes both professionally and personally in the past. For both sites it's a case of uploading the 3D data you want to print and selecting materials/finish etc then getting a quote. 3DHubs is good if there happens to be a print sho...

Re: 3d printed spare and repair parts

That's excellent, thanks for sharing. I could do with a few clips for the bottom door trim and I have a window regulator in need of repair so I'll give them a go at some point. Do you recommend any materials in particular?
