Well, it's sorted! :D Didn't take too long really, 'bout two weeks to locate the fault! Bloody electrics. Turns out the problem was a connector up behind the glove box. Initially we thought it was the live feed to the ignition 'cos when it went off, absolutely everything in the car died (including m...

ICFM initials for Iain Chilles Farnes Martin - parents had a sense of humor obviously. For those of you north of the border, the Chilles bit is my Scottish grandmothers maiden name.

Towing

I've just come back from dragging the old mobile roadblock down to Devon with the other half's space wagon. Pitched up next to us was an old boy with an ES towing a bloody great caravan! I wouldn't have thought the 480 was heavy enough in the braking department for that, and I'm glad I wasn'...

When it stalls, do you feel anything in the power steering ???
Just like you've turned off the ignition. So long as you want to go straight on there's no problem :)

Well, it's none of the above so I've bitten the bullet and booked the wee beastie into a car electrician whilst I'm away on hols. It's been getting worse during the last week or two. The fault is like the engine stalling and then immediately bump starting, unless you're stationary when it just stall...

I had the £17.95 ones from GSF fitted fairly recently. They make a plasticy rattle. Next time I'll spend a bit more.

Think about the low loaders the army use to cart around their Challengers. The tanks alone are about 52 tonnes!

And the idle control valve would be....? This sounds like a possible, 'cos I have noticed the slow idle getting a bit erratic lately. Out with the Haynes methinks in the morning.

Help! I think I have an electrical problem with my 480 - and does Dolly Parton sleep on her back? Trundling along at any speed I will suddenly get an engine stutter. There's no pattern to it, it can happen at any speed, any revs, may not happen for 10 miles and then twice in 30 seconds. It's bloody ...

You're all xenophobic - and rightly so!

I think we owe Chirac a vote of thanks. Obviously his tactless comments recently swung the vote in London's favour.
