Ah. So the fact that the car steams up like a Turkish bath every time it gets a little cold might be the problem. :)

I thought I'd cured all the water leaks, maybe not.

I'll leave the fan heater in the car over the weekend and see what happens.

Spoke too soon. The problems seem to have centralised themselves into the INFO centre now. Everything else seems fine. Its just the info centre thats erratic. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It'll start off blank, but with the back lighting, and starts working 20 minutes into a journey or ...

Martin. Nope, looked more like a relay than a connector. Black 3cm cubed with two wires into the top. Don't ask what colour cables, my back hasn't recovered enough to get back under there to have another look!

Anyway, I've done 500 miles so far this week and everythings been hunky dory.

Long day upside down under the dash later.......! Seems OK so far. So thanks for all the advise. Couldn't find any one thing in particular, so just unplugged and replugged a lot of connectors. The only thing that seemed loose was a black 'thing' about 3cm * 3cm with two wires feeding in/out, this 't...

Car drove fine, even brakes & pas. Just absolutely no electrics except the battery light, which is what made me think an earthing fault from the CEM?? Any ideas where its earthed?

I've used this lot in the past

www.volvospares-uk.com

Not always got what you want but willing to ship it if they have.

Thanks for the response MisterT. I called out the RAC and they came to a similar conclusion. I've had a quick look and the CEM is loose rather than attached to the bodywork. Hopefully just a loose connection somewhere.

Thanks again

Hi. I've replaced both window mechs on mine. One from a breakers for about £15 and one patent part for about £80. Nothing to tell between them once in except the patent has nylon bits instead of plastic and should outlast the car!

I'm a mechanical novice and I had no problem fitting them.

Interesting drive to work

Well it had to happen eventually! Lost all electrics on the way to work. Car drives fine, just no lights, fan, windows etc. A good whack on the dash worked for a while  I'm thinking CEM or earthing fault. Any tips peeps.
