Re: Regretfully breaking 480 turbo auto

I'll have the MAF :) Sling it in your boot when you go to Shakey at weekend and I'll grab it off you. Alternatively, stick it in your pocket if you're on foot  OKey dokey pal, would you like this momo wheel also to chav-your-ride? Hmm... Think I'll pass on the wheel, Fella. Think it would sui...

Congratulations, it's a lovely example that one :)

Can't help but think that itch will never quite go away for me either, now I'm 480-less :(

Re: Turbo meter wont' go pass halfway.

Jamesy, if you carry on giving bits of that engine away, there'll be nothing left for me to collect!

Got me stumped though, this one.

Oh, I sent a replacement BCV back with Pollution. Don't know if Jim had that for his stash though.

Re: Celebration: Free as a restoration project

As I've said before, if it's too far gone that's fair enough. Also I have no problem with it being broken for the greater good. That's the spirit with which I gave it away. However, if someone took it to break for profit, I'd be most upset. I have a big hammer and 2' length of 4x3". Ever seen Misery...

Yes.

There is no central locking motor in the driver's door.

Cost money those, you know?

Re: The 480 turns 30...

Wow. Really surprised at this. Volvo seemed to wash their hands of the 480 as soon as they could, for example dropping absolutely all parts from their systems as soon as the 10 year since replacement date passed. Also, when they launched the C30 they harped on about the P1800es' influence, without a...

Re: Remote and alarm question?

No. They only came with the key operated alarm. 480s never came from the factory with remote locking or complex immobilisers. Usually, those that had them retro fitted, went wrong... Ask Jim - he's ripped more out than he cares to remember I'm sure! Even the P2 440/460s that came from the factory wi...

Re: Wanted - various parts

Hmm...

Don't think there's anything wrong with the pumps, David.
It all seems to stem from the electrical problem.

If you turn on the ignition, headlights on, then pull pack the flasher and hold it there, I'm willing to bet they work.

Re: It doesn't start when warm

Either that or the coolant temp sensor, like you say. The one around the front of the engine, in the cylinder head, near the distributor with two wires coming from it. The other one with one wire is for the guage/info centre. Had similar symptoms to you, and when I came to change the sensor I found ...
