I know what you are talking about as the last EOL volvo 480 I had contained this feature had a quick look but never bothered trying to remove it as was scrapping the car anyway. Sorry no real help.

I have not thought about this before but I recckon you can swop the engines over just need to put the newer engine onto the older mounts. I was trying to swop the old style mount over to the new style mount and came a cropper

The main difference is the part where the rear engine mount attaches this is different as I found out the hard way
