Re: Oooops I did it again....

So, I've a new "worse job on a 480" that replaces a turbo starter motor. Front to rear brake pipe. I *think* the flipping bangers guys covered it on Oli's TT, but OMG it's horredous. The worse part of the pipe was across the rear panhard rod bracket, and where volvo went up and over it (WHY!) First ...

Re: First 480, first real project car

I use 'Grey stripe' body mastic, which is really for sealing seams but sticks like poo to blanket ! almost as good as original under body stuff :hopping: I apply it direct to the galvanised /bare metal Yup, would avoid using filler anywhere where moisture can get to it. It absorbs moisture! ...

Vented version = Turbo

Don't know if the GT/Celebration has vented, but if they did, they'll be the same as the turbo ones

Re: Red '89 car King's Lynn on eBay

Seems to have very low miles, but as I know all too well, it could be a broken speedo  Back in 2005 the mileage was 55490, So I'd suspect replacement dashboard. went off the road around 2009. Looks to be a little bit of arch grot, and the paint has suffered but doesn't look un-saveable.... I...

Re: Oli's 1992 Volvo 480ES Limited Edition

Yup, those are the common universal pads. Used them in one of my other cars, still fine and toasty 4 years later. I contemplated positioning a newer switch on the side of the chair to give the various heat settings, but then realised I either have them off or on, so the standard switch would work ju...

Re: Oli's 1992 Volvo 480ES Limited Edition

Managed to fix the passenger heated seat button at the weekend with Will's help. I'll attempt to take the seats apart one by one in an effort to replace the thermostat. The heated seats aren't exactly up to modern standards so whether I'll change the whole heated seat pad remains to be seen. Might ...

Ah most excellent news on the ABS, it's been a LONG time since I was a tester, so haven't kept up to date with "the book".

Gravitex is good, although I'm contemplating Raptor on mine, as it can be tinted to body colour!

Wowsers! THAT is an update! Still incredibly envious of your garage... I'd love to be able to just "pop out" and have a couple of hours on a car. My workshop is half an hour away and not really puppy friendly! BCS - Epic; Used them on 2 of my other cars and many years on, they're still looki...

Good thick metal is where it works best.

We tried it on my friends dug up Bren ammunition magazine. Sadly, it was the rust that was basically keeping it in one piece!

Re: Battery Charging

Update Went Lidling yesterday and car wouldn't start after leaving Lidl. Flattened the battery so called out the RAC. The engineer did his checks and showed me that the alternator was only pushing out 11.6 volts. So now I'm looking for a new/recond. alternator. Anybody any ideas/recommendations/spa...

Re: Ray le otter, electrical non start

he's got a regulator already - and they can be swapped in situ. (2 10mm bolts, one spade connector)

May be worth a shot, but I'd be 99% on the rectifier.

Well, it is you asked, but it very much looks like one of the rear springs is giving up.
