Mystery knob (not me)
Ok, I've asked a few stupid questions on this forum, but I'm genuinely stumped by a random knob in the passenger footwell on the trim panel under the glove box. I was looking to see what colour ECU I had but found this puzzler instead. Any ideas? I've done a quick search of past threads but to no av...

Rear beam wanted
I've just had all the rust fixed on my turbo but the garage showed me the rear beam, which is still sat on their floor as it's too rusted to refit. Can anyone help me out with a replacement that's not quite as bad? Might be a long shot but I've spent a lot on the bodywork and I'd like to get it back...

Sill protectors
Hi all, being a sentimental sucker I've shipped my turbo off to the bodyshop for a full bodywork overhaul (arches, door sills and boot sill). I don't know what the original sill protectors (if there were any) look like as I think mine has some cut-to-length protective strip that I've seen on ebay. I...

Declaring war on noisy tappets
Right, I have had my turbo for a year now (ish) and I can't enjoy the sweet purr of the exhaust without hearing an annoying rattle/tick from the engine when I put any load on it :badmood: . I ruled out tappets at first but now I'm leaning towards them again, but I'm far from being an expert. Is ther...

Re: Group Buy: Pairs of Rear arches
Sorry if I've ruined this potential group buy for people but I couldn't wait any longer. I bought a set this week as I have an MOT next month and arches are a borderline fail.

Re: Removing a dump valve
Ok, that's put my mind at ease, although I was looking forward to blaming that gaping hole for every single problem with the car. I suppose I'll have to blame something else now. Thanks for the info

Re: Removing a dump valve
I know this is an oldish thread but I noticed the same pipe missing on mine yesterday. I was shocked at first and started to panic. Why would this pipe be missing? I couldn't work out where it was supposed to go to but it doesn't look right to me. The more I look at the engine the more I think it's ...

Re: Group Buy: Pairs of Rear arches
I'm definitely still in. How are you going to make sure people don't pull out and how will the transaction take place? I have no idea whether or not I need the inner panels too, although my arches are pretty far gone. What is this 3rd part? I thought there was just an inner and outer panel.

Re: Group Buy: Pairs of Rear arches
I'd be interested, I have been looking to buy recently. Maybe we should get 2 sets each - a spare set for next January! 10 sets may be ambitious but we shall see.

I saw that one for sale a couple of months ago, can't mistake that bonnet logo. Should have bought it, it will be worth a FORTUNE... maybe.

Lumpy when hot
I took my faithful Matilda up to Carlisle at the weekend; 300 miles of angry driving after getting lost was fun but I noticed a rather lumpy idle when I started engine after stopping at services. Fine when driving, but sounded almost like it was missing a cylinder when idling. I restarted it 3 or 4 ...

Re: Finally found one.
Congratulations! Sounds like a good find. I'm a recent first time 480'er too, bought it on a whim and fell in love instantly. I resented the potential costs at first but now I have to stop myself spending all my money on the car (instead of the fiancée). I hope you enjoy it, I drive mine 45 miles ev...

Re: Most likely to clonk?
Did you solve your mystery clonking? I had a similar sound coming from the right rear corner but could only be heard from inside and it didn't seem to coincide with bumps. I had a look and found that the ARB drop link had a tiny amount of play in it, barely noticeable. For the sake of £13 I changed ...

Screw cover missing
Here's a question for all you hoarders: Does anyone have a spare screw cover that fits over the central screw directly beneath the handbrake (on the centre console/handbrake tunnel trim)? I see that manky hole staring up at me every time I look down at the hand brake and it's ruining my interior, wh...

Re: eBay watch!
Just spotted this on eBay, since there's always someone looking for a Turbo. No rust!!! Needs work but I'd have it if I had somewhere to put it.
