Re: Hissing VEM!
Was able to localize what I belive is the feeding line. Black rubber hose through chassie connected to brown line that goes to the vem. Let the engine run for a while and pulled it apart. No hissing or blowing/sucking at all.. will pull the inner fender tomorrow and have a look.

Re: Hissing VEM!
Thanks! That would be great. I actually read about the sama fault as I, in a thread on the swedish 480 forum. Solved by changing the VEM since it is irreparable.

Re: Hissing VEM!
Think its vacuum. Is it fed from the intake manifold? There s 3 lines connected that goes into the RH fender (why 3 ?) Maybe one are broken, cant hear any hiss, but thats hard of course with the engine running. Will have to examine further. What do you think about the possibility of the VEM being br...

Re: rear hatch seal?
I tried an experiment since Im about to change the seal anyway. Smudged a thin layer of loctite flange sealant on it and let it dry over night in the garage with the hatch open. Worked great! Dont know how the long term would be, but it works for now at least.

Re: Hissing VEM!
I've got a similar problem on my 1990 with AC. The VEM wont change directions no matter which button I press. Otherwise all the buttons and LEDs work as they are supposed to. Mine dont make any hissing sounds but I can hear the relays click when i push the little buggars! ;) Any suggestion what to s...

Re: Accumulator (bomb thingy)
Seem to have found a used one. Unfortunatly there is no guarante its i better shape. Also, they are not possible to refill (without doubtful modifications), but if one could find out the pressure and volume of the origina unit, it would be easy to replace it with new, industrial accumulators.

Re: rear hatch seal?
Perfect! Thanks a lot for this great tip. Brava and Bravo is quite similar, 3 or 5 doors. Will go to the scrapyard this Friday and remove one. I'll post the progress after replacing. Also learned you could put a thin hose inside of the original seal to make it seal better.

Re: Loss of pressure?
Good thinking. But my fuel pump doesn't start until the engine revs more than 45 rpm (1990 turbo) so in my case theres no point of waiting. I get the best starts after being parked a couple of hours. Over night starts and start after a short stop (warm engine) is the problem..

Loss of pressure?
I wonder if the fact that I have to run my car on the starter several seconds before it ignites, can be caused by a pressure-loss in the fuel line? I recently fixed a fuel leak (crack in the fuel pump fitting) and that made the car start better. Better in the meaning that if I've parked for exampel ...

Re: Fuel Smell
Thanks for helping me out James.
The whole thing was tilting so the ring didn't seal Jack shit! There is also a crack on it where the vertical fuel line comes out/in on the top.

Fuel Smell
I cant find the source of the fuel smell that appears after filling the gas tank to full. Can't find any drip leaks, but the car smells heavily of gas. I have traced it to the rear right side of the car. The smell doesn't come fom the filler cap, more likely from the rear wheel-well / inner arch, or...

Re: Missfire/hesitation/jolting on throttle lift off
Changed the "sparkplug No1 sensor" today. Got a slight improvement with lift-off on the throttle and over all a little smoother engine. Beleive it starts easier too, both cold and warm, or there were just coinsidences..? Usually have to run the starter several seconds before it ignites. Just have to...

Re: Missfire/hesitation/jolting on throttle lift off
Have the same problems with my 1990 480 Turbo. Jumpy idle, starting issues et cetera. Which sender are to be replaced?
Also, engine water temperature, which is normal driving temperature? Mine says about 78-80 degrees celsius. Isn't that low?
