Re: First 480, first real project car

I have done a bit more welding and put the bumper back but I'll make a separate post for that. In the meantime can anyone tell me what this hanging cable is? Guy I bought it from claimed it was a spare cable for another model. https://i.imgur.com/a7pavnS.jpg Also this rubber mounting here, for whate...

Re: rear bumper removal 480ES 1994

Took me at least several days once it was off, spraying and testing the screws to get the metal strips off. They can be an absolute bugger but enough penetrant and pressing hard on the screwdriver they will come off, tightening it and then loosening can also help. The screws/mounts for the rear mudg...

Re: 480 for Sale

Well I can't feel too bad about mine now based on that description
Real shame, truly. Kudos for making the effort to go take a look at it.

Re: Flaming urgent

Yes mate, hopefully Mark will fettle it in time for mini meet. When I dropped it off two weeks ago for MOT I called in at yours after seeing your 480 on the drive. Did you get it thru the test? Sadly wasn't there for the test. My Hermes driver told me there was a 480 there so went to check it out. ...

Re: First 480, first real project car

So finally after a couple weeks of no updates I have feel I have made some small progress. I won't link every picture because I don't think most people will want to see everything but you can find mostly everything in my album. 480 progress album Left arch Began like this https://i.imgur.com/v6H4XCw...

Re: The waterfalls mini meet

Will - is there anything in particular that you need to get sorted for the MOT? Shout if you'd like a hand, I'm only in Alne... Cheers David, right now I'm just filling in a couple holes which I too eagerly made in my arches. Really don't think they would have passed MOT but I don't know how poke f...

Re: The waterfalls mini meet

I would love to be 100% certain but still not ready to even book in for MOT yet.
I've a week off next week but the weather doesn't look like it will be too kind once again, so nothing is certain.
I've cleared that day anyway on the off chance.

Re: First 480, first real project car

which DRL's did you get? If you switch back to a standard bulb, does it do the same? Honestly not sure if it was doing it before, have a couple pictures with the DRLs on but with the headlights on it's so hard to tell if the driver's on is working or not. And with the old bulbs the passenger one wa...

Re: First 480, first real project car

Finally managed to start getting my headlights reinstalled thanks to the new bushes from Jifflemon. A+ packaging btw https://i.imgur.com/1TmVtwd.jpg New bulbs, Phillips Racing Vision for headlights, LEDs for the DRLs. I've cleaned up and resprayed the frames for the headlights, not that anyone will ...

Since I couldn't find it in the manual or on the forum, are these 3 screws how you take out the front fog lights?

not called ES AKA 'en suite' for nothing :-)
:cryhard:
To be fair the 480 is the best equipped stock car I've driven so far. Heated seats, electric sunroof, and electric aerial as standard is certainly nice.

Re: First 480, first real project car

Things seem to be progressing ok Will. If you get thru the mot maybe you can make the Waterfalls mini-meet on the 15th of March. There will be a few of the ‘locals’ along to that, so plenty of help and advice available if you need it. Good luck. Fingers crossed I will make it. Just after my birthday...

Re: First 480, first real project car

So finally managed to put some bits back on the car 😅 Rear shocks and roll bar links have been refitted. Exhaust backbox was sprayed with some high heat aluminium, just to make it a bit prettier, refitted with some assembly paste, new clamp and rubbers. Handbrake adjustment done, seems okay at about...

Ok, little slow doing this but hopefully this should work....

PDF how to's

Still plenty more to do of course.....
Works for me 😁👍
I had a similar idea with guides for my last car, as you say users and hosting sites disappear and suddenly you lose a lot of helpful information

Re: First 480, first real project car

by plastic arch liner things, you mean the short vertical section at back wheels? I fitted builders galv sections to replace the vertical bracket (see Nora Thread) if the mounts at the top are broken off then I fitted a short piece of 1 1/2" galv angle bolted through the floor, used 'dexion' domed ...

Re: First 480, first real project car

Thank you guys for your realism, any welding work is definitely way out of my budget for now. So for the time being while the rear bumper is off I can hopefully finish off everything under the car I was working on. Put the backbox back on after giving it a respray, it was blowing from the clamp end ...

Re: First 480, first real project car

So rear bumper has been taken off with only one sheared bolt, what a miracle. Although another bolt got really bent from forcing the bumper off so doesn't make much difference to have to replace two. For those who've never seen it please enjoy what lies beneath the rear bumper. https://i.imgur.com/9...

Re: First 480, first real project car

Welcome to the forum and wedge ownership. If you are thinking of keeping the car long term then I would advise replacing the arches. You will find 440/460 replacements will fit with a bit of work . It is definitely on my todo list but I'd like to get the MOT done to be able to drive around for a li...
