Centre Console Cubby Removal/Aux Gauge Installation

It's a while since I've done this so I thought I'd ask before I ruin something! I want to replace the cubby below the radio with some aux gauges (which I already have from another car), but I can't get it out - the side clips are fine but it looks like it has two plastic tabs on the top, possibly th...

Silver Turbo, Oxford

Spotted a very clean silver turbo parked on the Cowley Road at about 11:15pm last night. Even stopped my car to get out and have a closer look - I would have taken a picture or two but I was on the way home from the gym wearing a tracksuit and I was getting enough suspicious looks from the people at...

Re: Indicators Gone!

I had identical symptoms, after much exploration and trial and error it turned out to be a CEM fault. Replaced it with another good CEM and problem solved. (I should mention that the CEM looked fine on inspection but upon investigation with a multimeter at a local garage the bit that handles the ind...

Re: How do you manually 'pop' up?

The right one is usually easier to access than the left one, there's something blocking it (I forget what) so you're lucky in that respect. Mine are always black from oil and dirt so I had the same problem the first time my lights went wrong looking for the 'white' wheel...

Re: half leather seats black jacquard half price almost

My position is that it makes more sense for you (dugong) to pick them up in person and use them as a set than for me to just buy certain parts of them from Jim. I'm far too far away anyway. So if you want them I won't stand in your way! EDIT: Jim posted while I was writing this message, making thing...

Re: half leather seats black jacquard half price almost

The cover is ripped down one side and the seat itself is pretty knackered, plus it needs the seat heating fixed and all that.

I'll keep an eye out for replacements closer to me but in the mean time if dugong will take them off you in person for £60 I'll leave this one.

Re: Volvo original carpet mats: what a shame!!

On the upside at least they'll fit well. I have third-party carpet mats and I don't use them unless the weather's particularly bad and I want to avoid getting too much mud and water on the floor. The driver's mat always ends up pushed up behind the pedals which is far from ideal...

Re: weird car

Non-airbag steering wheel, post-facelift-style wing mirrors, headrests on rear seats, colour-coded bumpers, there may be more that I've missed. I'm sure there were some pre-facelift cars with colour-coded bumpers but it's certainly not as common.

Many thanks Jim, must have been using the wrong keywords in the search. I'll take it apart and see if there are some loose wires or something causing problems.

Ignition ring light

The bulb that illuminates the green ring around the ignition in my car has just gone, and as winter draws in I think I'll be needing it... I've done a few forum searches but can't find any information regarding how to access it - can anyone 'illuminate' me? (pun intended  )

Re: Troubleshooting Rear Fogs

What do you mean by an overtaking light? If yo have a multimeter take the bulbs out and see what you can read across the contacts in the bulb holders. In my case all the fuses, relays and whatnot were fine and I was able to read a tiny amount of voltage in the bulb holders. A few weeks later my ECU ...

Re: please help me what is this??

If I'm not mistaken the box in the compartment is the ABS computer (I could be wrong as I don't have ABS so I'm not used to looking at one), the other box looks like maybe an aftermarket amp for extra speakers or something?

Re: Troubleshooting Rear Fogs

Everything is now working fine. The ECU started declining rapidly a few months ago until the indicators stopped working and I was forced to actually get off my arse and replace it, all systems are now fully functional. I'm guessing I was getting 0.1v rather than nothing due to an ECU fault. Both rea...

Red ES, Oxford, 26th August

Driving down the Slade towards the ring road at about 6:20 on the 26th of August. I was driving in the opposite direction towards Headington in my dark grey metallic 480.
