Re: What is this?

It's meant to 'help' retain the wires on a two pin connector, not really sure how much good it does?

I removed it from the connector for the speedo 'pick-up' and didn't put it back on, speedo working so 'if it ain't broke' . . . . .

Re: breaking LHD 2.0

do you have power steering hoses (well especially the one that is at pressure) I know it's LHD, but I'll manage to 'lose' the extra length, but mine is NOT A/C so your power steering pump will have a banjo fitting on the top vs a section of 'bent pipe' but I'm sure I can over come that wee wrinkle ....

Good stuff, I can do 'clanky' stuff and leccy stuff, but things that need me to wear reading glasses tend to get avoided

I'd like to try a spare board first, I have a spare but it's the wrong version so looking to do a swap !

Re: Towbar approval

can't comment on your rules, in the UK tow-bars made/fitted after a certain date MUST have type approval. and also the inspection was a visual one ONLY, but times move on . . . .. . . if it picks up on the bumper mounts, check the quality of your bumper steel! but what that date is I can't say, prob...

Re: rust 'behind rear boot pockets'

Well, I'm of for a trip to a welders today, I was planning to have some work on the rear arch & back bumper anyhow! But if I go with Alan's fiberglass solution it would be an eagle eyed mot guy who saw my plastic filler its ocean of waxoil ;-) Re the drain, there should be one in the middle of the ...

Re: rust 'behind rear boot pockets'

obviously other repair methods (and chopped strand) are possible but as it really 'not structural' not worth breaking out the MiG for??? Technically, it's within 30cm of a suspension mounting point.... Hopefully the MOT tester doesn't spot it! :D fair point, but would a GRP repaired hole in the fro...

possibly very . . . .. . . . the flat section level with the floor or the bit at base of aerial recess where the side vents are. either way get rid of the foam blocks as they have already caused most of the damage :( can you guess how I know ? it can be fixed with a generous helping of choppe...

so 'central-locking' but not 'central-unlocking' :-)

Re: Price when new?

so if mine has the moon roof, front fog and ABS then list is nearer £16500, so at £1440 it must have seemed a bargain. I guess lots of the 'extras' were 'thrown-in' as cars would been in show-room with lots of 'nice bits attached' but what wheels were 'standard' as I have seven spoke 14" which I ass...

Doubt if you can get a code reader to plug in :-) (well James I think bought one) it is VERY basic and you count flashes of the LED  then look it up I've had similar, and I'm with James, check that the throttle switch under the throttle is working, it can get filled with oil form above , ie an...

Re: Immobiliser & central locking problems - unable to start car

Thought I would add an update; I removed the door card and the plastic lock cover, and I used a generous amount of contact cleaner on each connector inside the door, I tried to spray some towards their direction of the micro switches along with some silicone spray for some of the mechanicals, and s...

Will check once home, but given its a plastic liner, it'll most likely be either a spire clip or self tapping screw.

Drill out!
spire nuts / wee metal clips that are folded over the plastic (I think as my self tappers were removed with angle grinder, drill won't look at them)
