Re: So, today was the day...

The fluid res is probably just mucky, I have had that over the years sometimes it is from old rubber seals breaking down.

Would be a good idea to clean it out that way it will be easier to spot seal and fluid issues for the future.

was always futuristic.

when I was a lad they were the preserve of the wealthy like the SAABs which seemed to be owned by doctors and the likes.

Even today I thnk it stands up well.

Re: Battery drain

You will probably have got the gist of what I meant thanks to the other posters. Quickest way to check if it is the heated seats or whatever is to pull the fuse, have a look at the fuse chart/manual see what operates off which fuse, you can do the same with the relays. The alternator plug, look at w...

Re: Battery drain

If it is a quick drain though check the big drain items, heated seats, rear screen, mirrors. also worth pulling relays, they can stick in the energised position or occasionally people swap them and fit the incorrect type, try not to mix them up. Dont rule out getting the battery tested by halfords o...

Re: White N reg Dumbarton

You are right, the Mot ran out before the summer. hard to see it going back on the road as the body is a bit rough.

Shame but scottish winters will do that.

If you ever ask about it let us know. the only 2 I see now dont seem to be used.

Re: Quick decline into the life of a 480 owner

that is a shame, the body seemed to be good nick.

Funny how modern classics like the 480 are not financially worth repairing yet E type jags and escorts in stripped and scrap condition sell for telephone number prices.

got to do what is best for you.

might need to put this on an endangered list.

Tax and MoT expired July 2016. I passed it yesterday and it is looking a little unloved.

Does anyone know the owner?

Re: newbie intro

Having been looking for the last few months I have seen some really nice condition cars come up but they tend to be Autos. Have driven plenty of Autos and I do like them with big engines though would imagine a small car like the 480 would be better in manual gearbox spec. Any opinions in favour of t...
