Re: Welcome Seymour

When this came up for sale, I looked at the photos to see if was a prospect for the rescue group. All the engine parts in the boot made me think 'no, can't expect Jeff to sort that lot out!' Little did I know it would be on his front drive the next time we visited...... Talk about dedicated

Re: Snazzy's story

Flicking through last year's photos on my phone, I suddenly dawned on me that that Al's efforts last year were unrecorded on here. Next upgrades on Snazzy: https://www.dragonflyjewel.co.uk/sylvia/snazzy/carpet.jpg Early pile carpet replaced the original late felt-type one. DC kindly gave me a matchi...

Re: Paris Blue Convertible Prototype up for sale!!!!

I've always had my doubts about this one - there are several that came out the factory as standard then got converted by their owners. Eric Vanaubel (co-author of the 480 book) is currently doing just that to a turbo he bought for the purpose. My suspicions were raised by 3 things already pointed ou...

Re: WANTED - Subframe

https://www.dragonflyjewel.co.uk/480/subframesautomanual.jpg This is the difference. If you end up thinking of following Alan's suggestion, you need to check first which part of yours has corroded. Mine rusted into holes on the curved section one side of the gearbox mount. According to my garage ma...

You could also try Terry Stone Volvo Breakers in Brandeston S Yorks. No website but details here. Make sure you get one for a manual car as the auto is different.

Re: Northants - Lincolnshire Wolds meet June 17th

Hi So is it a drive from Northants to the Lincolnshire wolds ? Having not owned a 480 until later last year I'm unsure. Lincolnshire though is about a 200 mile drive south for me from Northumberland Yes, we drive in convoy, stopping off along the way for refreshments and chats. I am hoping to organ...

Re: Rescue Car: R5 - Black Manual SR Turbo

I have two main cabin carpets from leather interiors, one badly stained in the back the other with a hole in the front (eaten away by rust). Unless we can source a good one, I'll be making one out of two with the join under the seats. Boot carpet may have to be left to the new owner to source. Yes t...

Re: Rescue Car: R5 - Black Manual SR Turbo

No progress on the car Aaron, as you guessed, the weather is to blame. Until R8 is done and comes here, R5 will have to stay with me due to lack of space at the Sanctuary. Here is a photo of the Celebration seats we are proposing to fit https://www.dragonflyjewel.co.uk/sylvia/R5/celebseats.jpg Ignor...

I have a nice Celebration interior earmarked for it. The lack of wear and later date make working seat heaters more likely. Fingers crossed

Re: Rescue car: R6 - our first GT

We were really lucky with the paint, my friendly bodyshop owner did far more work than expected for the budget set. Sadly, he has now sold the business and retired at the age of 83.

Re: Rescue cars

R5, the black manual turbo, is currently with me having been ousted from Jeff's Sanctuary by R8, a black turbo auto. R8 is taking precedence because we may well buy it and sell hubby's manual turbo. As it's sort of spoken for and no-one had come forward for R5, it made sense to crack on with R8 firs...

Re: 2023 meets? Cambridge proposal

I have been thinking it's about time I sorted dates for this year. With several new young members handy for the Hampshire run, but constrained by university dates, I'm thinking maybe mid July for that one. Usually our first meet is in May and I had in mind to do the Rutland/Lincolnshire Wolds then. ...

No rescue cars available at the moment. They are usually spoken for before they are ready. but so far no-one has asked for R9 (Bluebell)
