Re: Best Outdoor Breathable Cover for a 480

The Halfords ones are alright, a bit hit and miss, but I am not convinced how well they keep the rain off, we use one for the quattro and its not outstanding but it does the job, they now have this strange plastic top on them and I am really not sure that its great for paint

Re: Lifetime care?

Lifetime Care must have had LOADS of 'loop holes' built in? no way could they offer such a warranty and still be in business, oh I forgot they're not really any more cos owned by ? ? ? even the C30 'anti rust' warranty was a piece of tosh as only covered rust from the inside out, jeez, must damage ...

'Morning all I saw in one of my dealer brochures that the 480 is eligible for lifetime care, does that mean my car is under warranty still? does it mean anything these days? Would be quite a boon if it did! if it's been serviced by Volvo within 1 month or 1000 miles of its service due date fo...

That's Interesting, Hope it isn't trashed (though if its a personal car that's unlikely) Where did you find that?

Re: Running costs

May I strongly advise against using 15W40 mineral oil in a 480? It needs at least semi-synthetic 10W40 (A3/B4 spec) and a Turbo should run on fully synthetic 5W40. See Volvo specifications in the manual if you don't believe me. 10W40 will set you back an additional 10 quid, though. Also, spark plug...

Re: Running costs

I run the toyo tyres on mine and they are actually really quite nice. I don't think my car was ever 'knackered' but the handbrake is a bit odd, having to pull it up quite hard to get it to properly engage, but that could just be me. Sometimes it is 'half-on' with some brake applied but not all. Some...

Today, courtesy of Brinkie, the much coveted digital clock arrived :hopping: Really completes the look of the interior (though the vent controls will be needing a new back light at some point) https://i.postimg.cc/YqLMSZLk/IMG-4878.jpg With this in addition to the washer nozzle from jifflemon, means...

Is this a 480 in The World's End?

'Evening all I was watching the World's End tonight, when in the background I saw a very familiar shape, but simply couldn't be sure without consulting the rest of the community. In a scene taking place in a Motorway services car park, in the background, one can see what looks like the front d/side ...

Re: How to replace the rear washer nozzle - The Guide

C pillar trim on mine is with 'one way' plastic clips that sit in the two circular holes, so over the years things have changed? I think also same metod of attachment on the 93 & 95 versions?? I did spot some of those in the middle of my one, but was unsure of their purpose, so they will require yo...

Re: How to replace the rear washer nozzle - The Guide

Nice write up. Only thing I'd add is that in situations similar to that, where I know it's fairly likely I'm going to lose a nut somewhere, but only possible to get one finger in, I've always found it useful to wind the nut to nearly off and used a lump pf blu tack on the end of my finger to keep h...

How to replace the rear washer nozzle - The Guide

So I have now successfully completed this operation, I will now write this so others can benefit from it. Those who try to remove the nozzle will find that it cannot be simply pulled out and replaced, it is a rather more complex process. Step 1: remove the C-Pillar trim On first inspection this is a...

The moment it’s MOT’d I’ll be viewing it.

I can neither confirm nor deny I’d be accompanied by my friend who works for the DVSA.....

How do I remove the trim around the pillar? I've got halfway there with the window side but am having trouble with the boot seal side. I've tried prying it out with screwdrivers but fear breaking something

How do I fit a rear washer nozzle?

Jifflemon very kindly gave me a replacement rear screen wash nozzle as my current one is broken. The only issue is that I do not know how to fit it, and I have a horrible feeling I have to take the interior apart to do it.

Can anyone share their experiences with this?

Many thanks
Ben
