Re: Article on the Wedgie in C&C "magazine"

too late prices were so low that the bulk have been trashed :-( nice article though I wouldn't be so sure, the modding lot seem to have, in general, left many alone, as FWD means it can't really be drifted, which is what most want. Rarity doesn't stop them though unfortunately, the amount of poor l...

Re: Repair mudflaps

Very good! I was toying with the idea of making repro parts as our family business is in rubber components, but it is certainly a relief knowing they can be repaired.

I've go the front flaps but not the rear ones, so will have to find those somewhere!

Article on the Wedgie in C&C "magazine"

https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/magazin ... st-seller/

Very positive, if a bit gushing I must say, but nice to see it represented fairly and not derided (though that is a rare occurrence these days I feel)

Enjoy!

Re: Info Centre Accuracy

Well, what I have noticed after tinkering with 480's the past 6 years: moisture is the biggest enemy of the 480. Not just rust, also the electrical system will suffer a lot. I have been lucky, my car hasn't lived near the sea, the previous owner fixed all the leaks and I have a dry storage for the ...

Re: Info Centre Accuracy

I think there were some updates in the software controlling the 8-bit CPU in the infocentre, because the behaviour changes a bit through the model years. It could very well be that the early cars' infocentre had a bug. :D Also, poor earth connection will make the measurements unreliable. Thanks for...

Re: Info Centre Accuracy

The range is based on average mpg over the previous 10 miles so if you've been stuck in heavy traffic for 10 miles then go to a steady 50 or 60mph the range will go up and up for the next 10 miles. I believe the smell comes when the breather under the filler cap is blocked. It also causes difficult...

'Afternoon All I was wondering, having read the account by Motor magazine of their long term test of the 480ES, in which nearly everything possible went wrong. One of the issues they found was that when the info centre read there was a 20 mile fuel range left in the tank, there was actually nothing...

Re: Info Centre Accuracy

So I see, we generally get it down to 2 bars before filling it up - I take it the bars are usefully accurate The quattro has been showing 10 gallons left for a while now, and I am sure that with a 2.1l turbo we haven't been doing 50MPG+ Also, there is a smell of fuel that comes about with the ...

Re: May 23rd Virtual Mini Meet

Late to the Party I know, but I did actually give the car a wash today as it had been needing, and also attempted to fix the screen on the radio that dcwalker kindly sourced for me. Would anyone know A: how to get the volume knob off, B: why the radio screen would be blank, as the radio and cassett...

Re: Lights clusters

Rear lights look good on this one, but also looks too good to break. Mind, after the one we went to see, it could all be very deceptive. Anyone in the area ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184299573595?ul_noapp=true Alton isn't far from me (well same county), if anyone desperately wants an inspection I...

Re: Couple of electrical problems

Maybe its time to replace the fuses? The pop ups I have fixed were to do with the relay needing some WD, but this is very odd how the whole car is 'dead'. I don't know if the car has something like this, but is there a sensor to tell if the ignition is on, thereby telling the car to fire up the inst...

Aye, but I wouldn't be shelling out £850 for one of those

Best case is someone falls in love with the thing and wrings a deal out of the erm, dealer.

At least the lights look in good condition, about the best thing it has going for it.
Could make a good parts car for about £500 less...
