Re: CEM Mark 1 Pinout

Though I have a MY 1995 480 with a CEM-III, I have a friend with a MY 1989 480 ES who is equally keen with electronics as I am, and he has more or less reverse engineered the CEM-01 pinout and put it in a Google doc we are both maintaining. Very handy, where there's an internet connection, I have al...

...and another thing to consider: if the passenger light is coming up and then going down again (in other words the motor is doing a full 360 degree rotation), then it's possible that the position switches inside the motor have given up, in which case the relay isn't the problem (I have recent pers...

Of course these have long been discontinued. People lost them everywhere, in the car wash, at Volvo 480 meetings... (sad but true)
Mine has been sitting for over a year at a guy who promised to make a 3D scan so we can make 3D prints out of it. I will check out once more if he has made any progress.

I believe it was only in Germany and France (perhaps Belgium) that the 480 Two Tone was available with Turbo engine. Colloquially they are called 480 TTT

Re: ES TT on the 'bay - Genuine Gem or delusions of grandeur?

A bit high, but not far off the money in my opinion - should it match up to the pictures and description (especially underneath)! If those Pirelli P6000 are new then that's c.£500+ already. They are definitely not new, Pirelli P6000 tyres have been discontinued long ago. I remember my 2008 Ford Foc...

also, I need to find one of these for the pop-ups, I am tired of fixing them all the time, only for the passenger side to flip down again... https://i.postimg.cc/R0WgWWv9/IMG-4040.jpg It is a simple DIY job to fix the relay, probably cheaper than finding another: https://www.volvo-480-europe.org/fo...

Re: Stolen From Bristol - Volvo 480 ES

What a sad ending. I would be devastated if it would happen to my car. Cars are basically stolen for four reasons: - joyride - valuable parts (though professional thieves steal those without taking the car, e.g. satnavs, airbags, headlights) - the car itself (which is given a new identity and subseq...

Re: '94 2.0 ES - Very nice one up for sale

Rust is already bubbling on a wheel arch (rusting from the inside, so needs a cut out, weld and paint job!) and the drivers seat shows more wear than you would expect from this mileage. Even here in The Netherlands you won't get 2,998 euro (which is what £2,695 is worth now) for a 480 in that condit...

Re: '93 White Turbo - eBay

I am very sure the advertised mileage isn't the actual mileage, the car may have done at least 100,000 more. The condition of the car, with its damaged front spoiler, scuffed bumper edges and rusty wheel arches, doesn't correspond to a mileage of only 36k. (There is no picture of the rear lights, an...

Re: Stolen From Bristol - Volvo 480 ES

Very sorry to hear someone stole your car! Not sure why anyone would steal a car in need of restoration, but then again, that is what I thought when someone stole my very rusty Opel Kadett (known in RHD guise as Vauxhall Astra) back in 1996. It was found less than 10 miles from my home with an empty...

Re: Bury St. Edmunds Tesco!

You mean the 15" Cetus alloys? https://uploads.carandclassic.co.uk/uploads/cars/volvo/819442.jpg They were sold here in NL with model year 1995 480 2.0 in ES trim, unless you really wanted the poverty spec, then you got 14" steel rims with plastic covers. GT trim (which is different from the UK GT t...

The pronunciation of Yerseke will probably give some trouble to you lot, it is "earseke" :)
I have no plans to go there, but I did check the weather forecast, which is a sunny 23-24 degrees.

In continental Europe, you have to check the "D.3" field of the registration. This is my car, a Volvo 480 GT registered in The Netherlands in 1994: D.1 VOLVO D.3 480 GT 2.0 I But really, the GT version in NL is just an option package. It comprises ABS, airconditioning, front fog lights, front spoile...

The way of expressing octane rating differs on either side of the pond. 93 in the USA is what 98 is in Europe.

No Christmas tree-like connections here, all lights are connected in parallel.
But I can send a fully tested replacement board by regular post, that is not very expensive. I will also throw in some used but working bulbs, got lots of them.

And it's got an auto box, so there's the possibility of a faulty P/N switch too (you can only start with the gear lever in park or neutral position)

Re: 460 turbo dash lights

First of all, the instrument cluster's operation is not dependent on the CEM. Secondly, the 460 doesn't have a CEM at all. ;) Now back to your problem. Check if the other dash lights (behind knobs, turbo gauge, in the ashtray, etc) are working. - If not, check the fuse. If the fuse is OK and you hav...
