Re: 480 Limited Evolution

Sounds like a proper upgrade to me :) I am very curious about the total part cost incurred (not counting labour) and the final result on a rolling road or track!

Re: 480 finally back on the road

Don't know what the cost of labour in the UK is, in 2002 a full respray of my Matra Murena in unicolour red cost me € 2500, including some soon-to-be-unobtainium rubber bits. Fast forward 15 years, respraying the rear panels of my 480 including welding in new wheel arches and rear bumper restoration...

Update.
Replacement Info-centre supplied by Sylvia - many thanks Sylvia.
The cold weather meant it took a couple of days to install it.
Now it is installed and working I'm in info-overload - bags of lights and stuff. I love it!
Thanks for advice and info.

See the 5 causes I've mentioned above. Have you tried them all?

Re: Electrical Faults of my car - How are they related if at all?

Short answer: NONE are related. Long answer will follow when I have finished my long list of people asking for advice how to fix pressing electrical faults to their car.

Re: Info Centre

If the info centre isn't alive, there could be causes five (*) 1. Halogen bulb blown. You checked that already. 2. Fuse blown 3. Wiring or connector problem, no power or ground to the info centre computer 4. Computer dead. Murphy came along: your replacement computer is also dead. 5. LCD Display dea...

Re: Battery maintainance

I found the screw switch to cause problems after a while. I threw it out and use a 13 mm spanner to remove the cable from the earth terminal when necessary.

Re: Dendy's 480 Diary

That's what I figured. Only this car was in danger of losing the DRL lenses as well, had to be extremely careful taking them out, even when using a plastic tool the bits were coming off :(

Re: Dendy's 480 Diary

Ah, the famous popup headlight issues. I was working on my competitor's car yesterday. Competitor as in, thanks to him I am no longer the only 480 driver in town  A low mileage 480 S 2.0 with all sorts of typical 480 problems: oil drinking 2.0 red dipstick engine, intermittent dashboard failure...

Re: Green Book Archive

Brilliant! I have all that stuff in Dutch, could scan the whole lot (I already scanned some of them & put them in a dropbox to share for anyone), but it wouldn't make much sense to non-Dutch readers.
I have webspace available should the need arise.

Re: USA 480 Turbo - Oil filter options

I could stuff a couple of oil filters in a parcel and mail it to you. Would be much safer bet than trying something with possible wrong threads, wrong sizes and/or no oil return valve. Shipment is € 18,20 untracked (€ 24,30 tracked) and the filters are approx. € 10 each, so if I send three, you'll b...

Re: somebody have wiring for button next to the seat heating switch ?

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean the wiring to the auxiliary light switch is completely missing, so you cannot select the auxiliary lights (between the DRL/standing lights) to turn on when you switch the high beams on? Or are you referring to the missing switch left of the seat heating switch...

Re: alternative engines?

The biggest challenge is getting all the electronics to work, i.e. installing the ECU, bypassing the immobilizer and adapting the cable loom. Renault Sport has used F-engines up to 2013 in the Clio RS, it's mechanically almost a drop-in replacement because the F4R-engine and JC5 gearbox have the sam...

Re: Flashing abs light

Your car is a 1989 Turbo if I have read your signature correctly, that means your car has the infamous ATE MkII ABS system installed. Is it flashing with the engine running, when you hit the brake pedal or just when the ignition is on? It could have multiple causes, the most likely (and most expensi...

Re: My 480 journey begins here

The horn is also controlled by a relay in the CEM (necessary to sound the burglar alarm). You can use the CEM self test to check if the horn relay functions. Don't do this late at night or you will "befriend" a lot of people in the close vicinity :P

40 euro for a set of spark plugs someone found at the bottom of a forgotten shelf?? @%#!(*!@(%$# <insert Dutch swear word here, usually a disease> Let's do some research, because Volvo isn't producing spark plugs by themselves, they order at large manufacturers who stamp "Volvo" on them.
