Re: Oil on speed sensor

Very good, this is exactly how I bench test the speedometers! (I do have to cope with the same mess, though ) Actually, there is very helpful information on the speedometer print itself so you won't need the confusing information from HBOL. In technical terms, this is called a silkscreen ( see...

Re: Oil on speed sensor

If you also have an audio signal generator, just hook it up to the terminals and apply a 400 Hz signal to test the speedometer. Your speedometer should show around 120 mph. An Android phone will act nicely as signal generator, I am using an app called "Simple tone generator" (type 400 and then turn...

Re: Wanted - under bonnet rubber seals & other things

If Jeff wanted the gauges for stock and a worthwhile sounding project, and Alan doesn't want the gauges in Nora, then the simplest seems to be if I take Alan up on his offer of returning them to me. They were my last spare set and yes, I did leave the storage cubby (or "wee dookit", which is what i...

Re: Wanted - under bonnet rubber seals & other things

Will/Jeff/James - if one of you does have the gauges and none of you is in line for them, I'd be very happy to take them off your hands if you let me have a price :D I think I might even have a spare sender, but as you say they are available new. Just the bracket to hunt down then... David David, a...

Now Nilani has successfully completed her first mini-meet it's time to start thinking about some more detailed needs...obviously I am well aware that a 480 is mostly made of Unobtainium, so please don't laugh at my optimism; there's nothing to lose because if you don't ask you definitely don't get!...

maybe 3900 sounded better than 4000, then they decided 3896 sounded even more of a bargain ! confesion time, if we are pricing up a 'special' project we used to always do a best guesstimate on costs in round numbers but by the time we'd finished we would always 'massage' the figure so it looked as ...

have fitted a Mocal 13 row oil cooler rad out the front of the coolant rad the increased oil capacity had an adverse effect on oil pressure, the OEM gauge on idle reads just above the 'minimum good area' so this should pump pressure up nicely to facilitate the oil cooler! easy option is to ditch th...
