A coward's viewpoint:
I had a 205 and have a 480 (which incidently got through another mot for 90 quid today). My 480 is faster on account of me not fearing death quite as much if I hit anything.

Cheers Roo, I'll be sure to check that out when I did the damn thing back together. Turns out the window motor is fine, but whoever sellotaped the whole thing up has also tried their hand at home electrics and hidden their handiwork in yard of orange insulating tape. I imagine there's a short in the...

Electric window knackered

Driver side window bust this morning. In the down position, typically. Anyway, checked the fuse, which had blown. Replaced it, and it blew again. The passenger side works OK, so I just I'm looking at a problem with the motor somewhere. Opened up the door panels, and the whole thing has been a proble...

Usually the way it works is that is legal to sell things like that, but it isn't legal to install them. Same for bugging equipment, legal to but, illegal to use. :?

The S was made as a low budget car compared to the other 480 models, it didn’t have an info center or front foglights. It'll depend. My S has info center and front fogs, but didn't come with alloys. There is is really on a difference between S and ES on the spec list and what you need. Service hi...

Recommend a Volvo specialist in Cardiff area?

I reckon I've scraped together enough pennies to give my mechanical sweetheart a service, so I was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a good Volvo place in South Wales/Cardiff. I'd prefer to avoid a main dealer, cos that would require an extra search down the back of the sofa for c...

If I had £1300 spare, I'd buy it. With that milage and service history, coupled with the general fun-ness of 480, it still sounds a bargain.

What else could you get for that money, even if it is white?

pol was driving on a Sun night, so I thought maybe he could argue he had an appointment on Monday morning. Or something. Either way, if he doesn't know a garage that might do it, it's a dead end

You are allowed to drive to an MOT , if you have an appointment. If you could 'arrange' an backdated MOT appointment with a local garage, might be easier than getting a certificate.

They won't stop terrorism if the terrorists are entitled to hold an ID card anyway. They might have some uses, but the possible abuses and problems - and cost - easily outweigh them.

Here's an (obvious) tip - avoid the Fiat Marea. I had one as a hire car once, and its a absolutely awful car. Guitarcarfanatic's has a good call. Those Nissan's are solid, maybe a Subaru also worth considering?
