Hmmm... maybe a slight exageration...

but with bus priority schemes, gas mains replacement and tram works all over the city it's kinda hard to avoid roadworks at the moment.

@bkf_uk - Sorry nothing AUTO specific. Mainly interior and electrical but some engine stuff (again mainly electrical). @esta - As Roo said, roundabout Edinburgh (although they're going to demolish it and put in a bus priority lane and traffic lights). @Roo - All good, glad to see you're still active...

On a RHD car the ECU is in the driver's footwell and the CEM is behind and above the bonnet release in the passenger footwell. Martin's from Sweden so his driver's footwell is on the left side. First thing I'd be checking would be the pop-up relay (situated in the relay box on top of the bulkhead) f...

Here's a couple of pics from me and Sally's recent trip to Stockholm. The Duett was the 'family' version of the PV544... http://www.subatomic.force9.co.uk/Duett.jpg But definitely not as nice looking... :-D http://www.subatomic.force9.co.uk/PV544.jpg Can't think why Sally thought I took too many pic...

Sorry Martin, I think you're wrong there. There is a separate ECU that controls the engine management system so is different for different engine types. The CEM controls other electrics like interior light, indicators that make a beeping sound, rear de-mister etc. so is the same for turbo and n/a mo...

I'd be interested to hear if Volvo sell you a cover by itself - they said to me the mirror was only available as a complete unit - £160 or something stupid like that! Maybe they sell the cover for the old style mirrors separately but not for the new style? If you can get them for a tenner I...

Test data for the temperature sensor also depends on engine and must be checked with the engine cold (20°C). B18E = 290±20 ohms All other engines = 2500±300 ohms The only difference between a B18E and a B18ES as I understand it is that the B18ES also has EGR (exhaust gas recirculation). So I'm a...

:? Smells a bit like a harbour with the tide out if you ask me... Looks considerably more like an expensive over-tuned kit car than a 'real' supercar. Barabus are listed as exhibitors at the British motorshow however so who knows what they're up to. The website is decidedly amateurish and lacks some...

Well you'll need to unbolt the big end bearing caps to free the conrods. Some engines you can then slide the piston down and past the crank, others you have to take the crank out as well or as Mart said take the head off and slide them out the top. Never done it on a 480 so don't know... although HB...

If you're not sure of the service history it doesn't hurt to change spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor arm, HT leads. Will often make a noticeable difference even when nothing is really wrong with the running of the engine. The big hose should come off really easily - just one giant hose clip. The ...

If I understand correctly your idle speed is about right. Yeah, I'd go with giving the idle control valve a good clean and see what happens. It can be tested in a similar way to the TPS but there are 3 versions of the idle control valve depending on engine. B18E = 44 ohms B18EP, B18FP, B20F = 8 ohms...

OK, I've done the same as you with the sensor on my 1.7 and come up with what are basically the same results. • Pins 1&2 throttle closed: no connection • Pins 1&2 throttle fully open: 1.9 ohms • Pins 3&2 throttle closed: 0.2 ohm • Pins 3&2 throttle fully open: no connection • Pins 1&3 in e...
