I think i'll replace the sensor to start with then! Been using NGK plugs, seem to be doing ok, last set I took out looked fine. Have had no real electrical problems, except for the clock not working, or my rear wiper, or my day running lights, sidelights, fuel guage, temperature guage and speedo.......

my apologies, where my previous post says 'ECU' please read 'CEM'. my brain wasn't in gear at the time (big balck box by the passenger footwell). The sensor i'm on about is the one stuck into the rubber air intake hose, with a red connector attached to it. I'll bung some piccys up later ;) seems to ...

Cleaned Air...

I had exactly the same (although intermittent) problem, as well as not being able to "switch on" main beam (would stay on only if i held the stalk, which when driving rather quickly on country roads at night was a touch dangerous). Both problems were solved by replacing faulty connections in the sta...

If your'e getting some browny/whitey "mayonnaise" type stuff inside your oil filler cap and some loss of water from cooling system then your 480 has "K-series syndrome" (head gasket going/gone). I've just done a heady-g change on a mate's 1.0 vw polo, not my idea of fun.

Just to tag onto the end of this topic with a different question....

My headlamp lenses are starting to go opaque, meaning my lights are nowhere near as bright as they should be. any ideas on how to renovate the inside of the lens? of should I just get some new ones from GSF or scrappy replacements?

The last owner of mine used Halfords oil, which isn't too bad as its made by Duckhams, but for the extra few quid, spread over 5000 miles or so, i'd have to agree its much better going for magnatec. cheap oil is a bit of a false economy really.

Try just checking round all the hoses, especially where they connect to things. I found one morning after getting to work my bottom radiator hose ws disconnected, and I had therefore left my coolant on the bypass. :D When they get old they tend to bulge and split (epsecially round the connections) o...

I needed a re-print of an MOT for a VW Polo I had a few months ago, and I had to go back to the garage that issued it, Though I got the previous owner paid the cost of this because he had lost the certificate in the first place!
