Uhm ;) After owning my car for 16 months I actually stumbled upon this engine bay light earlier this morning to my great surprise. Otherwise I've long ago given up on trying to find out what all the loose connectors and plugs I find all around the car might be for. There are so many loose wires but ...

Repairing electric windows

Hi there, I have a problem with both my electric windows which humorously arose at the same time. The problem is that a small plastic piece that holds the wire together which moves the window up and down has got broken. The motors turn and are otherwise fine. I've called my serviceshop and they don'...

The 480 is called Getrude, a fitting name as I picked her up in Germany. She follows my naming rituals, my '63 Amazon(which I love soooo much) is called the Valkyrie.

Re: Usual speedo (etc) fun

[quote="Scuffer"]New 480 owner here... again! Thanks for everyone (esp Felyx) for their dash removal advice in the body/interior forum. Unfortunatly, the lack of contact spray and a decent soldering iron ruined my Easter weekend dashboard instrument revival. My dad used to have this stuff, 9 years a...

Odometer/Speedometer/IC

Hey guys, this is a very well know problem I've seen in old threads about the speedo/odo or the IC dying. As has been the case for others than this is also my problem, they come on occasionally but die when going over bumps. Anyway, with instructions from the FAQ I unplugged the dash and took a look...

Sometimes it goes and sometimes it doesn't which leads me to believe that it's just the connectors on the back of the instrument cluster in my case???? It can be steady for a good while workin...

Hi, what have you been checking? In the FAQ on the website is an article about what to look for when buying and there are dozens of threads on the forum that are all about people interested in buying their first Volvo 480. Don't mean to be rude, but please use the search function before you just le...

Buyers thoughts

I am thinking of getting myself a 480 and there are a couple of cars I am thinking of. Are there any models(years) which I should be looking for more than others, I know there were electric problems with them for the first years, but cars from for example '88 and onwards are they a good bet in terms...
