Re: hey again from an oldie

Any oldies kicking around still? Sold my last 480 in 2007! Seem a little rarer now - I owned 6 in total (first was bought in 2005 at the age of 18)...5 of which were bought for under £150 :D Gone are the days where you had to pay to get rid of an MOT failure! Been in company cars most recently (afte...

Re: hey again from an oldie

Just thought I would pop by and say Hi!

Missing my 480 a lot, but time now being taken up by my Saab 9-5. It just doesn't go wrong though!

I'll probably be making the switch to a 2000-2010 diesel this month though - my mileage has increased and I need the economy.

Boo!

Re: So whos bought M427 TFC then, mine and Roo's old Turbo?

This is a bit of an old school meet up! Hello all. Currently driving a Saab 9-5. Miss the 480's, but just don't have the time for them anymore. I will one day though!

Re: Where i went (carwise) after my beloved 480..

Well I went to a 406 TD which was very unreliable but not a bad car. Then i got the Saab 9000 which was great but was starting to feel a little antiquated. Got a Rover 420 for a dirt cheap hack which I drove for 6 months and sold on for a £200 profit. Then i got given an old MK3 Astra diesel which ...

On the rear I'm not sure. just check buypartsby.co.uk and cross check part numbers to see what modelos interchange. I think (this is from memory of about 4 years!) there are just hub / no hub normal discs and then vented discs. I imagine yours will be normal discs, no hub. Just make sure that you re...

well you can't blame Jim can you?!

When he sold the car, it had a new MOT and was in working order. Since then, a year and 2 owners have passed. These are old cars and things are likely going to fail at once. You really can't point fingers after such an amount of time and use.

I swear a problem can occur when the heat shield isn't on there that the starter gets too hot and then won't work til it cools down. Maybe only on long jouneys but remember a couple people having it.

Re: Radio is dead after jump start

The problem is that i tried to jump it off a huge rental van that pulled up outside my house. it wasn't very successful and smoke started to come off the connectors even though they seemed to be on correctly. I Are you sure you had the cables the right way round on the van? Smoke suggests you didn'...

You need the passenger footwell on a uk car which on your car is on the drivers side! Sit in the drivers seat and then it is to the left of your left foot but up a bit.

Good luck!

Me and Chris removed a bolt I had chewed up equally, if not worse, using a tight Britool 6 sided socket and a large breaker bar. I applied force against the socket to keep it on the bolt, and with chris undid it. if you have an assistant, give it a go. The sideways force of your assistant should sto...
