Resoldering is most likely the solution.
Hi Andy R. This is a typical problem for the wonderful Volvo 480. Connections might be the problem and then it would be enough just to take the dash out and clean them. Statistically speaking, however it is probably the solderings in the dash (the print). I have been there and done that. You might b...

OK, thanks.
Hi martinholmesuk.
Thanks for your reply. I just saw it was missing, and figured it was needed. Is it a general experience that this part is not needed?

No kilometer counter nor trip counter
After I resoldered the dashboard, everything looked just fine. However, the other day I noticed that the only two mechanical parts in the dashboard; the two km counters in the speddometer, had stopped working. Does anyone have a suggestion before I (again) take out the dash?

I think I know what you are talking abuot, Bukky. If I am right about the sound youy are talking about, it can not be related to the teethed wheel. The sound of this noice clearly indicates that vibrations from the engine are getting in contact with the chassis of the vehicle but only at low RPMs. E...

Bad and good news.
Hi you all. I guess I have some bad  and some good  news. 1) The engine still revs up and down the first appr. 20 secs after start. 2) Our (Martin's and mine) idle valves are OK. I earthed it, adjusted the idle and removed the earth. It idles better and stays stable. It does no...

Full stop Martin!!!!!!!
Martin, check the bypass in the throttle valve. bbf confirms the resistance, so do not change your idle valve. I discovered a possible leak where the throttle valve is bolted on to the intercooler manifold. So I took it off and cleaned everything. Well, I discovered that the bypass in the throttle v...

I also have 44 ohm resistance and poor idle!!!!
That is interesting. I have experienced serious idle problems about 20 seconds after starting the engine (stalling), and thereafter the idle is unstable. Furthermore, the engine (when hot) doesn't idle immediately, but drops to about 1400 RPMs and then slowly down to about 800. When left in idle, re...

Thank you all.
I suspected it might be the tank sender unit, as I have tried everything else - including resetting the INFO centre. But as Patrick points out, a new unit is fairly expensive, so that is why, I chose to ask you experts first. OK, if anyone out there has a used but working sender unit, please don't h...

Too low and decreasing fuel level indication.
Just bought a 480 TURBO, which I am in the process of bringing back to pride. I have resoldered the enitire dashboard  and hoped that that would solve my problem. It did solve the flickering INFO centre, but my fuel gauge is only showing half when tank is full. The "miles to go" INFO is likewi...
