Re: Rear inner bumper parts drawings/availability
sure, but all need to keep in mind it is part of the structural integrity of the car, especially when somebody rear-ends you in a crash... Ok fair enough, a rusty one is also not helping, however if yo put something else you would like to be sure it is at least of the same quality (preferably bette...

Re: Rear inner bumper parts drawings/availability
Just a small piece of info before we (480-fans) start doing double work: One of our Dutch forum members (Wilfredscherpenzeel) is in the proces of having a completely new rear inner bumper scanned by a local company. The aim is, ofcourse to mae drawings to reproduce these inner bumpers. Perhaps it i...

Re: Rear inner bumper parts drawings/availability
I am restoring my 1990 Volvo 480, which among other things, has a non existing rear bumper plate. They are not available from Volvo, as you know. I have another 480 (1992) which has a new rear bumper plate installed 2008 (from Volvo). My plan this summer is to disamble that plate, and have a worksh...

Passenger's side wing mirror
Am after a nearside wing mirror, the type that does not have the split across the front with colour at the top and black accross the bottom...the one piece coloured cover, the "older" type I believe. The colour does not matter as I actually only need the inner bits, primarily the cast gunmetal brack...

Rear inner bumper parts drawings/availability
Hi all, I recently had the misfortune to have a dozy mare run into my back end which at first sight appeared to have made an unholy mess of the rear bumper assembly. A visit to a local body shop offered precious little comfort! However, after a morning of sweat and toil in removing the afore mention...

Re: Changed to:- not so quickie! Steel wheels
Steel wheels have proven to be just too elusive.... have picked up four alloy wheels, identical to mine, with the advantage that two of the tyres are almost new. Not perfect for use with snow tyres but at £30 for all four, quite a good deal really!
Job done!!

Re: Changed to:- not so quickie! Steel wheels
I'm finding that tracking down these wheels is ever more frustrating. Have managed to find a useful site with most common car wheel sizes listed...and the only one with a bore size of 52.1mm is of course the Volvo "4" series! http://www.carlsalter.com/wheel_fitments… Does anyone know if the u...

Mmmmm, could it be that the running light has an L.E.D. replacement bulb of the "warm" variety?
If so.....very good!

Re: Dashboard/clock bulbs
Many thanks Jim,
I've just found some that might just fit......not totally sure though!
If they don't I will certainly get back to you via a PM if that's ok?
What do you think about these led replacements?

Dashboard/clock bulbs
Hi, Has anyone managed to find a source for these bulbs? As you see from the link, they are available on fleabay from the states, but at £35 for 5 inc. postage I feel that they are grossly ovrpriced. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-76-07-Bulb-2721MF-Dashboard-Instruments-x5-Brand-NEW-w-1yr-W...

Re: Best modern HU for 480 dash
Hi, am interested in this one as I have been contemplating a change too. Although I have been contemplating having my original Volvo cassette/radio rebuilt by one of these people who advertise in the classic car mags. I don't want a cd player, too much of a fiddle to change.....nor did I want an ipo...

Re: Escalating electrical problems...so what's new?
Thanks both.... the wiper problem was indeed the loom entering the back door frame, a quick wiggle of that and it worked again....soaking wet too. Soldered the wires where they seemed iffy, found a suitable piece of plastic tubing to encase the cables and to replace the soggy covering....job done! T...

Escalating electrical problems...so what's new?
Hi all, M.O.T. coming up so I have to get to the bottom of this. First the front fog lights decided that they didn't want to work. Secondly a couple of weeks later the info centre started playing up (nothing new there then!) by occasionally reseting itself and going through the start up sequence, th...

Steel rims and snow tyres
Hi all, Was toying with the idea of buying snow socks... but the thought of the number of times that I would have to put them on and take 'em off again on a journey made me check out snow tyres......my ex was (I suppose, still is!) German and she was amazed that we don't do this as a matter of cours...
