FOR SALE - Volvo 480GT '95 in Holland

It's a GT from '95, Paris Blue Metallic with 179+k km. It needs some work (turbo is broken for one) and I'm fixing some other things. If someone is interested, PM or email me and I will send you all the details. I can post more details when my work on it is finished, in the meantime contact me for m...

Remove the volt/oil/turbo gauges

I noticed that the bulb of the turbo pressure meter was broken so I thought I just pop the meterblock out and check whether the bulb could be replaced easily. But..when I got it out a little bit I could see the red connector on the back pop out the socket and then I couldn't retrieve the meters any ...

Replacement rear brake

My rear discs have to be replaced because they are worn out. The pads and calipers will also be replaced. When I asked what it would cost they said that it would depend on whether the brakes and the hub (I hope this is the right word, it's "naaf" in Dutch) can be replaced seperately or whether it's ...

Thnx for the next set of tests :-) And even in Dutch! I think I'll check if I can spin the spindle, because that's the problem according to the mechanics at the dealership. Checking the lubrication and cooling systems is another good tip because that's what the mechanic should have done (maybe there...

An update: I checked the actuator rod while someone revved the car and it isn't moving (at which rpm should it move)? So if the turbo in itself is not broken, the actuator control seems to be. The actuator rod is connected firmly. @ crispy-d: where could I find the solenoid? And what is it? Is it th...

I'll check this weekend with my dad what the actuator does and what sound the turbo makes. I'll keep you all posted.

Thank you all for all the reactions so far btw!

Yes it was working fine for maybe a 200 km's (I had about three trips). What is happening is that the needle for the turbo is "hanging/stuck" just before the orange bit and there's no boost from the turbo. The needle is just fine in the white part, so no delays when I hit the gas pedal. No strange b...

After the dealer put in this turbo I drove a few times and everything was fine and I was happy, but at one ride I noticed that the turbo wasn't functioning properly. So turbo has to be broken between rides when the car wasn't used (obviously not an option) or it broke on the last drive I took (or so...

I've checked some things today and the actuator rod is in place and isn't loose. There is also a circlip. The vacuum hose (smallish red hose) is connected firmly. I'm on my own so I can't rev and watch at the same time, but I'll do that next weekend with my father. I can move the rod with my hand, I...

I'll check this weekend if I can find the wastegate and check things. I can't jack it up to get under the car so I hope I can check all of it from the top. It does seem to boost a little bit with 4000 rpm, so that's a good indication. The car won't go much faster than 150 km/h without the turbo, is ...

The Volvo dealer that checked the turbo said that the wheel inside the turbo doesn't turn. The indication for that was a hose (maybe the wrong word) that should expand a little when pushing the gas pedal, does the opposite. But it can't hurt to check the wastegate. I'll try that myself or with someo...

No release from turbo

My turbo builds up pressure (the meter is going up to the orange section) but won't release it. The needle will not go into the orange section and the turbo won't kick in... I have recently had my old turbo replaced for this one (this is a second hand). Is this one defective to? Or maybe is there a ...

But there's not been a development like with the gearboxes over the years? This it doesn;t make a difference whether I get a turbo from '86 or '95?
