I knew when i entered into this discussion that everything i said would be knocked by more than yourself richard. I can see i'm fighting a losing battle, and i'll have to have my own opinions. :) I will say though, that the neither ecu has a power feed constantly. Yes, the auxillary waterpump and it...

If you read the flywheel teeth section correctly, it says that the B20F, B18F, B18FT engines have 58 teeth with a gap. i.e. 60-2 and also the B18U of model year 1994. If the teeth were different then the ecu's i added wires to would still not run. The 40 teeth pattern relates to the renix/bendix ign...

The LH does have long and short term trim. It's not just active at idle either. That's why these cars can go a bit strange if the oxygen sensor goes haywire. The CO pot is there to make up for tolerances, in both the electronics, and the engine. Modern cars have the same adjustments, but since they...

The load wire is connected, and was only removed for test purposes. I feel the timing is advanced with orange ecu on as car is perkier on part throttle. As for popping and spluttering, i quoted yourself and now u retract it...???? I can't comment on the late ecu onto early car part as have not tried...

All the flywheels are a standard bosch 60-2 pattern. I've compared two flywheels and found that the missing teeth vary by around 5 degrees between the early and late types. Certainly not enough to stop them from running. In that case I may have miscounted the teeth. 5 degrees of timing is quite a l...

The cars fitted with red (maroon) ecus can have two possible flywheels, either the smaller early type clutch, or the later bigger one. The blue ECU goes with the later type clutch, and the orange or purple ECU with the early type. Regards Richard All ignition ecu's will work in all 480's. Early one...

could one of you guys actually tell me what the map sesor does to the ignition... what is the ignition doing when the map sensor sees infinity pressure, alterativly can you tell me what it does when it sees atmosphere? thanks The ECU decides what ignition advance value to run from the map sensor pr...

Turbos do have map sensor to measure the boost pressure at the manifold, the 480 run 2 bar (32 psi) map sensors which can measure up to about 25 psi of boost. If you want to run more boost you need to swap it for a 2.5 or 3 bar map sensor which can measure higher boost. 2 bar sensor can measure 1 b...

Not to upset you but it does on my 480. I can look at the a/f and see the engine run wrong. Just checked the wiring diagram m8. It turns out on the 480 there are two resistance elements in the coolant temp sensor. Of the two wires, one goes to each ecu. The other connection is to earth via the sens...

nykie wrote:just a quick question... what does the title actually do to the ignition. if you blocked the map sensor so it was reading infinity vacume would it retard the ignition loads.
is this dangerous for your engine?
let me know....
Yes its a bad idea.

Hello, Have you got a air/fuel gauge on this? Sounds like it's running rich to me. When you made all the wires up have you got the engine temp sensor wires aroud the wrong way? That would cause it to run like a bag of shit. I know because I had problems like this. Good luck mate The coolant temp se...

''ok, well its a fookin anoying problem that i have, the car runs ok apart from some probs, it will idle fine, like normal somtimes, but then other times it will just randomly cut out and die, switch the ignition off then on, it willl start straight away with no problems. really random, now this ca...
