Re: Erratic idle, stalling (Have read old topics :) )

Have you put a ignition timing light on it to check the spark timing? And the cam timing is OK?

Check fuel pressure. Check injectors resistance too.

No OBD port is possible. You should be able to hook an LED upto it though and get it to flash codes.

Re: problem on renault b18ft help

Where is the boost gauge connected to the engine? And where is the MAP sensor connected to the engine?
You can get a few PSI difference from straight after the turbo and after the intercooler, so perhaps the boost gauge is reading 0.7BAR but the ECU is reading 1.0BAR.

Re: Juddering and stalling turbo

Spark is controlled from the ignition ECU, so it has full ignition map. Dizzy just distributes that spark. Apparently the ECU can detect a slight drop in revs at a certain point on the revolution and from that knows which cylinder didn't fire. I never tested that, so don't know how good it was at do...

Re: Juddering and stalling turbo

4-5-2 is a "normal" fault code for the Turbo, do a search it should bring it up. I would undo connectors, clean them. Also clean both ECU connectors. Check all grounds etc. Check voltage at fuel pump. Just work through logically, its either missing a spark or fuel.

Thats the correct method, but I think the codes are different for Turbo models.

Re: Juddering and stalling turbo

Well, I ask about infocentre as the injector pulses are sent to it for working out the MPG, so if it jumped to 99.9 it would show a lack of injection. Fuel pump can be tested with a fuel pressure meter hooked onto the fuel rail. The MAF is probably best checked with a oscilloscope, or maybe a fast r...

Re: Juddering and stalling turbo

MAF Sensor? Fuel pump?

What does the instantaneous MPG say when it judders?

Re: Starter Motors

They are all interchangeable I'm 99% sure. One was big and one was smaller. One apparently made a nice sound, one didn't. One also throws a fault code on Turbos, possibly due to magnetic field near crank sensor! I know mine never sounded good (horrible like a flat battery) yet always started for the...

Re: running to much bhp for my clutch

Both 200mm and 215mm clutches use same diameter flywheel and I think the timing teeth are the same. There will be no problem with the starter, its not the diameter of the flywheel he wants to change that would achieve nothing. 215mm would be best for handling power. Like Ettore Bugatti mentioned loo...

Re: battery warning light on but alternator charging fine

I had same thing, dim at idle getting bright with revs. Car was fine for weeks as I thought it would be the regulator. Turns out it was something in the alternator (either diode or winding) but didn't go further as I just got a spare alternator from the scrap yard. BTW, putting diodes in parallel is...

Leaky injectors? Could be flooding the inlet manifold a bit.
